Connected, although I don't normally work in calories (though I know it comes down to that in the end) I make full use of the free food lists at SW. These include unlimited amounts of pasta, potatoes etc on Green days and unlimited meat and fish on Original days. I would most certainly say that a
man of your age and height is not consuming enough calories at 1300. You should be having around 2000 in order to lose weight healthily (women should have around 1500).
If I were you I would eat more carbs, if you like them, or more meat - real meat, not the Bernard Matthews wafer-thin stuff.
What you say is right - if your body thinks you're not getting enough food, it will go into starvation mode and hang grimly onto each and every calorie.

    Thanks Consultant.

What sort of carbs would you suggest? I'm trying to be careful which type of carbs I eat - hence why I tend to eat Granary/wholemeal breads, wholemeal pasta, and high fibre cereal as I know they're supposed to be better for you in terms of digestion.

I just don't know how I can make up the deficit throughout the day. Maybe increase what I eat at break times? More at breakfast? My dinner meals are usually fairly filling, but maybe have a yogurt afterwards or some more fruit?

Sorry for all the questions. :embarasse

    Hi

I stayed the same this week. I was expecting it, so I'm not too disapointed - I really thought 4lb off last week was a bit weird. Also - been working my socks off, and not drinking as much water.

This week I will drown myself with the water drinking! :rotfl: (I soooooo want three pound off by 19th June!) Should be able to ride my bike quite a bit in the evenings over the next few days with the good weather too.

Lost just 1/2 lb last night. I know it's good to have any loss but i'm soooo eager to get to my second stone off!!! I'll manage it in the next couple of weeks anyway.

Will try to write everything down that i eat this week to get me back on the wagon! Think my problem this week was that i kept picking at food (little bits of cheese/chocolate etc) then ended up eating a few synful meals for my boyfriend's birthday.

Well done yatesey, nica and cat's pjs on some great losses!!! Good luck again for this week all :)

The wholemeal bread etc is very good for you also the high fibre cereals etc. so stick with that. Do you eat jacket potatoes? If you do, make it a bigger one than normal. When you have a steak, have a jacket potato with it instead of just salad. Use the carby veggies, ie. peas, sweetcorn, parsnips etc.
Certainly you could increase your intake of fruit and yoghurts, maybe combine them into smoothies several times a day - good for you as well as adding calories.
Gosh, this is unusual - I normally spend my waking hours thinking of ways to cut down on calories/syns. Well it's a challenge! :rotfl:
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

    Hi All,

Well I had to bite the bullet and join a club which I did on Tuesday night. So I joined the SW club, seems like a nice crowd and the consultant was very good. Yesterday was my first day and didn't go great as I was out and about all day and haven't got myself organised. Although I didn't have anything bad but didn't eat enough. Those hifi bars are delicious and great for breakfast if you have a really early start and travel far in the car.

Will post my 'weight loss' next week!

Good Luck to everyone for the week.

    Debs

Today I'm going to pore over the books and get my shop[ping list together.

Oooh - its nice in here!! :p

I would be grateful if people could post any fave SW vegetarian recipes (nothing tooo adventurous) and even better if they are nice famly recipies that the kids will eat!!

Here's a recipe traditional from my area, I hope you like it.
Take some spinach, boil them and drain them. In a frying pan, stir fry some pinenuts and sultanas with a bit of olive oil, when the nuts are getting roasted add the spinach and toss to mix. Let it cook for some minutes and serve. It gets all the flavour of the nuts and the sweetness of the sultanas, and tastes delicious.

I thought I should introduce myself!
I used to go to SW meetings last year, but since I moved house last Christmas I sort of drifted away, i.e. never went back. I keep trying anyway, because it works for me. Only I've had some er... fridge-related holidays and now I've decided I must seriously keep an eye on what I eat again, I found this thread and thought it would be a good idea to join in. You people look very supportive!
I'm not going back to the meetings yet, but this thread will be a means to go back to commitment. I've already changed to and kept some new eating habits and I intend to go on working to be able to lose what I don't need!
