Marks & Spencers Food Section Rip-Off

Hi,
I went to M&S today to do some food shopping.
Amongst the stuff I bought were 2 packs of "chilli & rice" and 1 quiche, all marked with a "3 for £5.00" red sticker.
There were in the same aisle, just across from each other.
I noticed when I paid that there was no discount for this, and went to the Help Desk to enquire.
She had a look, and said "oh I know whats happened, the quiche is a Deli item, and the chillis are not. You can't buy them together for that offer".
"But they all have the same sticker on" I said, " and its marked that on each shelf, and they're very close to each other".
Yes, She said, it IS confusing, but they are from different sections, so you can't do that.
I then asked to see the Food Manager, who she said was busy (without checking).
I then asked to see the Store Manager, who she also said was busy (also without checking).
No, there weren't any signs about this, so having two very similar multi-buy offers, in the same aisle, which are incompatible, seems ridiculous.
Very poor service from M&S, and very confusing. Very disappointed in them.
Cheers,
karen

You could return the items to get the refund and complain to customer services about your experience .....
You may get any compensation for the bad service you were offered...0 -
that is a bit rubbish isnt it.
i was in M&S in chelmsford last week and saw the same deal. i didnt get any of it, but yes, all the stickers said "3 for £5" and they were all over the shop - and absolutely nothing to say they were the 'deli range' etc. i would have assumed you could get any of the items for the 3 for £5 too.
M&S not really explaining their deal very well are they:heartsmil Getting Married 11th June 2011 to the lovely Graham:heartsmilWedding/honeymoon fund so far £69000 -
I suggest you e mail Sir Stuart Rose the Chairman and CEO of M & S he is very hands on and although you will get one of his PA's reply you never know what may be the end result !

ps He is a really nice genuine person "Man invented language to satisfy his deep need to complain."

At least if you email stuart rose then you could bring it to his attention and maybe he could do something about it0

My parents bought an item from the deli selection and a couple of meals but the total wasn't £5. As that was all they had bought it was obvious that they hadn't got the 3 for £5. Dad complained in store but was told it had to be 3 items from the same range, so 3 deli items or 3 meals not a mix and match of both.0

Had the same thing happen to me when they were running a similar promotion a few months back on bread/breakfast items. I complained then and they said they would clarify the signage but they have not.0

Hi,
oh well, at least its just not me being daft.
I wonder how many ppl bother to check their receipt?
Cheers,

Cheaper to only print one kind of label, 3 for £5, and use it for any 3 for £5 offer in any section. The only problem is it's not very clear if more than one of th esame offer are running instore.
Not exactly a rip-off, so long as you only choose items from the same shelf the offer stands and it's a good offer.
I always check my receipt, luckily!

Please report it to trading standards you can do it via email. What they have done is ilegal. The consumer protection act states that labeling and pricing must be clear and pricise and not cause confusion. I had similar thing with tescos but after having no joy at the store I complained via email to boh Tescos and trading standards and got a full refund. I only asked for the price as advertised to be honoured but got £20 back. (so ha ha to the tescos manager who said "its nothing to do with me")0

I had this last year with M&S. I went to buy some ham and some salmon (both from the deli section) and apparantly couldn't because they weren't the same item!!! Ridiculous if you ask me!Total DebtCredit Card - £7 / Dad - £11000 / Mum - £1000 / Parents Joint - £80000
