I used dial a van in Bangor - they were really good - they connected my cooker and everything as i was a girl living by myself. They were really helpful throughout removal.

Hope they were qualified to connect your cooker

  • Hi
I am planning on moving from London to N. Ireland in the near future and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations or good contacts for removal companies who do this.
    Any help greatly appreciated.

Gabrielle -there are loads who do that run. I've forgotten who I used but if you have a look in the Irish Post and the other London Irish paper (sorry I've forgotten what it's called) there are plenty of them advertising.
  • we moved from southampton to belfast and i would not, definately not recommend pickfords....terrible terrible terrible......when my hubby came over later in the year we used LOGANS REMOVALS and they were highly recommended.....

when i moved over 8 years ago we got quotes from 5 companies. The first 4 all came up with the same quote so we thought the fifth would just be a waste of time but they were a good £200-£300 cheaper.
When they were giving the quote they asked us if we had got quotes from the other companies and quoted their names without us prompting.
We said yes and asked why. Apparently all the other companies do is get the job and sell it to the fifth company that gave us the cheapest quote and pocket the difference as straight profit. You dont even see the other company on the day of moving.
Cannot for the life of me remember what the company was called but it specialised in removals to ireland (north and south). Worth finding out which companies specialise - they normally need a full load to move. Our trailer was our flat contents and the contents of 2 other houses.
We moved from east london and the company was definitely advertised in the yellow pages on a proper largish advert as I remember.
If i heard the name of the company I would probably remember it!

I used a Belfast company when I moved London/NI 3 years back and they were bloody fantastic and at least a grand cheaper then any mainland company. If you can then its a lot cheaper to find a company over here who will do you as a return run or book you as a part load. The company we used were back and forth two/three times a week so we booked half a lorry. So much cheaper but you do have to be prepared for your furniture to be picked up when it suits them - ours was picked up a week before we completed on the new property (we stayed with friends) and then delivered first thing as promised on our first morning here.

Im pretty sure it was The Dixon Line in Belfast. Very professional, very clean and tidy, no breakages or losses and everything ran to the times quoted. Parents used Pickfords, lorry was 3 hours late for pick up and was 2 days late on delivery - and it cost her 1200 quid more then we paid

  • Hi

I can highly recommend a local company in Fermanagh who do removals from all over the UK to NI - have used them and they were very good and cost effective - company name is VPG +44(0)2868658106 ask for Patricia or Vincent.
  • I hope to be moving soon to West Yorkshire. I'm disabled and living on a tight budget. I have a little furniture and some boxes to move over. Any person got any advice on a removal firm who could quote me a reasonable price?
