A list of participating salons and their contact details was available through the Saks site, so I don't see why people couldn't get in touch with their local branch just because it wasn't advertised any longer on these forums.

I meant that claiming people have lost out because the details were removed is NOT a valid point.
They have missed out because the salons quickly ran out of appointments due to the popularity of the offer; not because MSE removed some phone numbers.

I understand the frustration at having bought the paper and not got an appointment, but honestly....let it go already! It's not the end of the world, it happens. Sometimes you get, sometimes you don't.

But everyone should have got, the mag in front of me clealry states 'free haircut for every reader', if this is the case they should have ensured that sufficient appointments were available for every reader. So it is either for every reader or for some readers - which is it to be?

Should they be saying it is for every reader when clearly it is not. I wonder if trading standards would be interested.... was it a 'con' to make you buy the paper I wonder, if it was then that is wrong. If they only had 10,000 appointments available then they should have said 'free haircut for the first 10,000 readers contact your nearest salon'. Shouldn't it??

I just booked a facial for the Hull SAKS branch, I had my hair cut a couple of weeks ago so don't need it doing, they told me the offer is only until the 24th as they are closed over the weekend, they did offer me a hair appointment but then said I was probably better off having the facial if I didn't need a haircut.

We bought 3 NOTW for the hair cut, but only 1 of them had the magazine in it, so DD and OH are missing out anyway.
  • It's not a con, plenty of papers do it. I know it is not right but somewhere in t&c's they will have availability applys. They are not going to be able to give a free haircut to every single reader.
Personally, O thought it was wrong that some salons were taking bookings before the paper was evven out. I booked an appointment for this wednesday on the tuesday afternoon after the paper came out.
I've missed out on offers before but it is really first come first served.

Yeah, but the issue is that they did not have a free haircut to give every reader and the free apppintments were given out before the voucher came out. If you did not have access to the internet to get the Saks details or if you did not get the weekly tips email it means you had no chance of getting a free haircut anyway as the appointments had all been given away before the offer was even released to the public.

Had you been on holiday as I was would you have been looking at the internet or your weekly money tips email? No, and because I was on holiday I did not get a free haircut as they gave the appointments away before the mag came out with the details on. And for this reason I do think it unfair that they gave the appointments away before the voucher and article with the offer on was released.

For someone who is 'not that naffed off' you are making one heck of a fuss about this!

I haven't seen the magazine or the t&c's, but it is likely that the initial advertisement is only an invitation to treat, very much akin to the infamous Carlill case. If you still have the magazine and want to publish the t&c's we can give a more definitive opinion on the legal position on this scenario.
    Gone ... or have I?

    Hi there,

We removed the full details of the SAKS offer from the Beauty Deals page as it was no longer available to everybody, only those who had purchased the newspaper.

Deborah, that can not be the case,as the offer was always only available to those who purchased the paper,so I fail to understand what the reason could be.My last post on the subject:rolleyes:

Ps -max I am not saying people lost out because the details were removed, sorry if it came across that way,(i more think people lost out because of bad organization and briefing by saks-purely my opinion.)

I had a voucher and managed to get an appointment for today...then my ds2 gets shingles and can't go to school! of course there are no more appointments left! they offered me £10 off but only on the promotion days (not sure how that works if they are fully booked:confused:) but couldn't make the one they had left. So have ended up going back to my normal hairdresser's :D
saving for ds2's summer international scout camp - £200
    £60 deposit paid :j £100 paid:j £40 paid:j

Shingles must be doing the rounds in our neck of the woods, that's the 4th case I've heard of in the last 24 hours. Hope your DS is soon feeling better.

Can you use your voucher on the taster facial at a later date or have all those appointments gone also?
