Mrsmcawber-You've got loads done! Well done you.:T I'd also like to see a pic of your hubby's owl if he doesn't mind. As for a lamp, I'm not sure how expensive things are in Germany, but if you have an IKEA nearby, they do a floor lamp called a NOT http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/30145134 which you could just use daylight bulbs in. If it's a floor lamp you're looking for, that is...

Louise-That's a huge chart! :D But only 15 pages are filled-9 are just little extra bits. If that makes you feel any better...;)
You've made good progress already too. I bet you really enjoyed yesterday, didn't you? It's a great feeling starting a new kit.

It was someone at my cross stitch meet that told me about the marker pen, so I mentioned to her yesterday that I had recommended it to you all and she was pleased she helped!

I took a tiny kit of an Orangutan to my stitch meet yesterday and have done about 1/3 of it now. Zoo nights was fun too, although by the time we got home, it was almost midnight. I'm planning on finishing my Bras this weekend. I've just got the last Bra (BRAmble) to stitch, then I'll wash it to get the pen marks off, and once it's dried I'll do the french knots or beads. Oooh, exciting!!! :j

    Hi all,

I missed a few of my regular UFO sessions, so haven't been around on here Mrs M, fantastic progress.

Those UFO designs were fun, although I'm not planning to start one. I;ve seen other temptations on here too, but will not succumb.

Louise, that looks like a massive design you are doing. I'd need therapy if I tried LOL

I did some stitching this Sunday, nearly finished the corner roses. But had a lot of hassle when I somehow stitched loose threads into the work

Does that ever happen to any of you?

    Hi All

I know I had the house fire but I was looking for something in my shed and came across an U.F.O.

It is taken from cross stitcher magazine issues 39-44(1996). I was planning to put them alltoghether in one large pattern. As you can see from the pictures I have got to letter H. I also found a bag with all the threads sorted to do all the rest of the letters and rough drawing on how to lay it all out. The corners I thought of putting in some personal details - name who completed, etc.

I notice there is abit of a stain on it and some rust marks at top. I think I will continue on with it and wash it at the end or do you think I should do it before hand. Think the marks at the top are rust marks.

So looks like I have a massive project to do. Well better get cracking (but will finish a small one free with magazine first).

    Kind wishes to all,

    sweetcarer ;)

    Hi there sweetcarer

I would give it a good wash before I did anymore -It would be awful to finish it and then not be able to get it clean. If it is rust at the top its really hard if not impossible to get it out -although some of it will be covered if you use a mount when you frame it.

My hubby is a mechanic in the army -and even though he has a shower and scrubs his hands when he comes home he still gets his fabric mucky -and I manage to get it out (so far) -his hands look spotless -so he must absorb oils into his hands

We have managed to get hubby a decent lamp -he went for a big clip on armed thing and a halogen bulb and so now he is happy:D and sat sewing -I will get a pic of his work so far later on ruth-honey -..he has done a small nuthatch pic -his 1st one, then he has done a big swan -its one of my faves, then he did a pair of robins on linen -to see how he would get on with it and now he is doing the owl on linen -he finds it a brilliant way to switch off and unwind -I know a few squaddies who do it :T
Right -back to the sewing :D

Struggling to get a picture to post of the tablecloth (41" square) but managed to get all the pink flowers around the edge and the middle edge bit done, (12 flowers i think in all a mere drop in the ocean). And my mum has taken a UFO off my hands to see if she enjoys doing it (think she liked seeing all the embroidery in my great aunts drawers and would like to have a go but wants to break herself in slowly).

I think you should wash it first too. It's a lovely picture and you've done quite a bit already.

I wonder how many squaddies admit to doing some stitching to unwind? I have a man in my Yahoo group who stitches some gorgeous designs. He seems to fly through them too.

I've been stitching all afternoon, but I think I must be rushing myself now I'm so close to the end. I made 3 mistakes in the AlgeBRA square, and I've made a few in this square too. I've unpicked and redone it though as I know it'll drive me crazy if I know there's a mistake in it. Hoping to finish tomorrow, but if not, that's ok too. Who am I kidding??? I want it done, framed and up the wall to spur me on with my other stitching! :D

Oh you don't know HOW pleased I was when I pulled them properly out the pack and found some of them weren't full pages :rotfl:

I love starting new kits - that 'fresh fabric feeling' ye cannae beat it :D

    Morning all
As promised -here is the pic of hubbies owl so far -Including the tide mark across where he holds the frame -dirty b*gger :rotfl:I have warned him that if I can't wash it out he is going to have to cover it with more grasses and the like at the bottom ;) -he has quite a bit more of that to do anyway -so hopefully he will cover a lot of it.... I can usually get it out *fingers crossed*
    owl9august.th.jpg
I shouldn't laugh but he has masses of french knots (and back stitch) to do for the seed heads and I have said he could use beads -but he is determined to "do it porperly" so I have told him to look on you-tube for a video showing how they are done -and I will sit behind my hoop and chuckle whilst he does them :p

*Louise* -what hour were you up until last night/this morning? -do you ever sleep?
Right -back to my sewing :T-have a great day everyone...
