I'll be suprised if anyone has more UFOs than I do. It is pretty shocking once I count them up. Not as shocking as how many kits I have unopened though. There's a MASSIVE box of them. And I went through them not that long ago to see what I could sell on Ebay (I listed quite a few yesterday), but there's still loads that I *must* stitch. And then there's the charts...
The first UFO on my list to do is Mum's 'Crisp Afternoon'. She's been so patient with me about it, and I want to get it finished. It's just so big and so many different colours-all confetti stitching left, though. I have a Pako needle threader set up to help a bit, but it literally is stitch 4 or 5 stitches, then change colour. Nightmare! I was hoping to get some stitching done today, but I've been trying to get hold of my best friend all day. She's a huge Michael Jackson fan and I knew she'd be really upset that he died. I still can't quite believe it myself. Between calling her and taking pics of my UFO's, I've not had chance to do much else. Where do the days go???Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Righty-ho, here goes....
Usually when I make up my thread card I put the date on so I can remember when I started it.
Hope no one minds me putting the pics on here, I don't have a seperate album for my stuff that I can link to
Victorian winter scene (Sep 2005)
Summer Fairy (Aug 2006) Might scrap this one, it's just too light, not keen on it at all.
Winter Tigger (2007)
Sunset (July 2005)
Mirabilia Angel (2006)
Sleeping Beauty (2006)
Twelve Days of Christmas (Oct 2006)
Sailing Mice (June 2007)
ABC Afghan (Dec 2006) - Daughter was born July 2007:o
Angel of Christmas (October 2003) My mum brought this one back from America and asked me to make it. I could never get into it, the stitching is smaller than what I like to use. (Sorry Mum!):p
Flowers (2006) Just got bored tbh.
Angel (August 2007)
Flock of Flamingos (March 2007) COMPLETED :j
Map of Europe (Oct 2008) This is my most recent one I have been working on, I only had to put it down because I spent most of my spare time arranging my wedding this year.
I have a few others that are in a box at the back of another cupboard, Belle, Cinderella, 'Passion of the Dance' etc, but I thought I have got enough for now lol.:rotfl:Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. *Louise*-Not a bad little collection there!
Please don't scrap any half done ones...it seems like such a waste. Maybe you could donate it to a hospital or something so someone else can finish it?
Do you have a weakness for Christmas charts, by any chance? I know I do! I wish I lived in a mansion, so I could have a christmas room to hang my finished pieces in all year round. I hate having to pack them away every year.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

No. But you reminded me about a couple of other UFOs I have. Piggin cross stitch, which was started new years eve 1999, and Calendar bears, which I started either late 1998, or early 1999. I wonder where they are???
What design is your 10 year old UFO?Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

My worst UFO was a beautiful "Footprints in the Sand" kit that I started for my Great Aunt, following my Grandmothers funeral in 1992. I got it about 9/10 finished and then for some reason stopped .... over the years, I keep picking it up, doing about 20 minutes and then putting it away again until the following year.
Tragically, my beloved great Aunt passed away in 2006 and I will now never be able to give it to her - she was the last person alive on that side of my family, and now I don't quite know what to do with my UFO even if I could finish it ... any suggestions??
EDIT --- oooh, I've just realised this might be the longest UFO so far!0 -

I had thought about giving them away - but didn't think anyone would want a half completed pic lol
Yes, I LOVE christmas charts - I think nearly every member of my family has been given a christmas x-Stitch as a gift at some point :rotfl:Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Ohh that is so sad
I would suggest you have it framed and hang it in your own house to remember her by. Does she have a headstone? If it were me I would take a picture of the finished work, have it laminated or put in a sealed frame and put it on her grave

Thanks so much ... no, she was cremated and her ashes scattered in the same place as my Grandmothers and Fathers. I wouldn't want it at home as although I adored her, it would be too much of a reminder if you know what I mean .... of how I didn't get it finished when I know she would have loved it.
The funny thing is though, if I had of finished it, I would have had it back anyway, and probably hung it ...
Bizarre!0 -
That's a pity then - I see what you mean about having it back if you had given it to her
You should finish it anyway though, then it won't niggle at you, I have loads of pics completed and stored away, waiting to find their perfect owner.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219.
