Theres an interesting article here on windows 7 and OS X upgrades..

    It's a bit of a silly article.

How many PCs purchased in 2001 are going to be upgraded to Windows 7?

For that matter, how many PCs purchased in 2005 are?

I'm thinking of buying a Toshiba laptop from Laptops Direct (which has Vista Home Premium). Do I need to check with Toshiba or Laptops Direct or both or neither before I purchase? If Toshiba, how on earth do you do that? Link from Windows website takes you to a broken link on Toshiba's site!
Try one of these: Upgrade to Windows 7 (noting that the upgrade will cost you £27.90 inc VAT) and the list of eligible model prefixes in this PDF.

I'm trying to find out from Morgan Computers whether the "Toshiba factory reworks" are eligible for the upgrade, provided they have the right model prefixes and qualifying version of Vista...
