Vote in Nationwide's AGM 2009

Sure they are. They're part of the EU and all, what with them being overseas territories of France and Spain....
It doesn't work like that.
Just because a country is an overseas territory of an EU member does not mean that country itself is also part of the EU and every single bit of EU legislation applies.
Therefore instead of taking the countries as a group you need to have a look and see whether a particular country is part of the single market itself.
If it is and NW has charged you to take money out send them a formal complaint letter by recorded delivery with your evidence and threaten to kick up a stink.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

I don't object to the passing on of the VISA 1% charge, but there are plenty of more objectionable things Nationwide has done. It has pushed up overdraft rates much more than other banks and building societies. Its implementation of faster payments has been pathetic. The system was introduced 13 months ago and most Flexaccounts can't send or receive faster payments and the minority that can have a ludicrous £10 transaction limit.0

I notice you [STRIKE]surreptitiously[/STRIKE] accidentally clipped Israel out of that quote
Or have France or Spain annexed Israel now, and the BBC/Sky hasn't caught on?Conjugating the verb 'to be":

I vote every year against the directors remuneration package.
Unfortunately what Nationwide relies on is people going into the branches and being told to vote by staff.
These people because they are voting under pressure are more likely to tick the boxes that are highlighted so you vote the way they want you to.0 -
Nationwide have made it very difficult for members to nominate directors but perhaps next year a MSE member should put themselves forward and also propose a resolution for a directors pay freeze / cut.0

Nationwide makes much of being the "most trusted savings provider" in a survey commisioned by, er.. well itself. I dont doubt the fact but does the society, today, offer its members anything special? Do any of you think you are getting a better deal with Nationwide than you could elsewhere. Whilst it is true that Nationwide do not go in for headline grabbing rates purely to gain new business the products available from the society are nowhere near the best deals available.
Answer this please Natiowide. Why do you charge an arrangement fee of £995.00 for a mortgage?
Is it because its the market rate, what we can get away with, its exactly what it costs us.
Its seens funny that without shareholders we are all a bit worse off.0 -

The only relevant stuff Google showed was a survey commisioned by moneysupermarket.com (most of them quoting http://www.moneysupermarket.com/c/press-releases/nationwide-is-the-nations-safe-haven/0003751/)Conjugating the verb 'to be":

I haven't received my pack yet and so cannot vote. Is anyone else still waiting or should it be here by now?0

I phoned up today (0800 30 20 15) because I didn't receive mine and was told I was inelligible to vote because my balance was below £100 on the 4th April (I was transferring some money and soon after this was much higher). So obviously your opinion doesn't matter if you don't have much money! lol0 -

French Guiana isn't in Europe.
French Polynesia isn't in Europe.
Fuerteventura isn't in Europe.
Gran Canaria isn't in Europe.
Israel isn't in Europe.
I'd go down the rest of the list, but I'm sure (judging from your reply) that you aren't at all interested.
Edit: For anyone planning on still objecting to this post because I'm coming across as defending Nationwide, let it be noted that I still voted no to everything on this vote.
Oh..is not that Nationwide decided to charge you. they were paying your fee before and they simply decided that it wasn't possible anymore.
Their division between what is in Eu and what is not is just a clean copy of Visa inter/intra regional division.
Visa Europe does not charge intra regional and this includes transactions performed for example in Israel as they country is part of the Visa Europe region.
For transactions performed anywhere else...e.g. Thailand, Canada or Brunei there is a 1% fee levied by Visa Europe to all the member banks (e.g. no matter who are you banking with, if you pay with a Visa card outside the VE Region then your bank will have to pay 1% to Visa Eu on top of the transaction amount).
