What's this about?
Nationwide customers (who are over 18 on 16 July 2009 and had at least £100 in savings or a bank account or had a mortgage over £100 on 4 April 2009) can now vote in this year’s Annual General Meeting.
Those eligible should have recieved a voting pack. You'll need to use the security codes found on the letter in the pack so contact Nationwide if you haven't recieved one and think you should've.
20p per vote goes to Macmillan Cancer (up to a maximum of £250,000) and you'll automatically be entered into a free prize draw to win one of ten prizes of £1,000, although you can opt out of this if you want to.
What am I voting for?
You are voting on a number of key issues, such as the election of directors and their pay.
You can register your vote online, by post or in branch but must do so by 11am on Monday 13 July 2009.
You can also vote at the AGM itself, which will be held at the ICC in Birmingham on 16 July 2009.

My wife and I have got the voting paper for Nationwide this week.
I dont think there is much point as the seem to be a "closed" society.
Previous attempts by members to get resolutions put to the AGM have been rejected.
It looks like they are only interested in getting the directors pay passed.
Results show a profit of £162M however 7 executive directors took £6.5M in pay and perks.
My wife has voted against the Directors Remuneration but I consider it the same as the Shell shareholds revolt when it was just ignored.
As a member I dont see any benifit, unless you happen to be a director.
They have reduced the interest on my current account to ZERO.
So I have stopped paying in my salary.
Is anyone else completing the voting forms?0 -
you can vote on-line
but yes everyone should vote .. in my opinion vote NO to all resolutions as they are clearly offering rediculously low saving rates and generally taking advantage that people have been scared off the banks.
Many people 'trust' places like Nationwide and just assume they will be treated fairly.
obvioulsy I have moved most of my money out to better rates too.0 -
Even if you don't vote because you want your say in how the society is run, please vote anyway as each vote gives a 20p donation to Macmillan Cancer Support - which is a really worthwhile cause. You are also entered into a competition to win £1000.
Also, please take the time to read what you are signing and don't just fill in the quick-vote at the top.0 -
It doesn't really seem like a vote to me - as there are no alternatives to be decided between -it is just them asking for verification of what they have decided...
I might just vote against everything.0 -
Might as well use your vote; if enough people vote against the resolutions, at least the board may realise they are unpopular with members and might possibly do something about it (unlikely though). Plus, your vote means 20p gets donated to Macmillan Cancer Research, which is a worthy cause. NW plan to raise £250,000 - a pittance compared to what the directors pay themselves, and the 20p is only slightly more than what most members get paid in interest these days.0

I've already voted. No to everything.Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries0 -
I'm also going to vote NO to everything, i'm quite unhappy about the direction Nationwide are taking.0

I will also vote No to everything... that was the first thing that came into my head when I received the paperwork. Glad (iyswim) others are as unhappy with Nationwide as me.0

I am also not falling in with the smug new 'keep us the way you like us' slogan? What's not to like about relentless troughing and empire-building for senior management and worse products for the ordinary member?0

Three of us here have voted online, really easy to do. We voted against the directors' renumeration package.0
