My budget is about £2500 - I'm adamant it won't go above this but who knows! x

Wow lilian this is amazing how are you doing that (if you don't mind em asking)

Am trying to keep it to £5k but am waiting for a quote from our wedding planner. If they are too expensive will try and do it myself but Italy is a pain in the arss - although do have some italian friends soo...

anyway also rethinking the getting married here thing - you can see why we aren't married yet - we can't make up our minds!!

Hey ho just want to keep the costs down as much as poss but have already blown my first budget which was for me. Had given myself £500 to get everything to do with me (dress, shoes, jewellery, hair, make up) well just ordered my dress and shrug for £470, might already have jewellery will have to see, shoes shouldn't be much but hair and make up will cost as I am useless at both. Been considering going on one of this make up courses so I can do my own although don't know if my nerves will hold out on the morning of the wedding - anyone else tried this?

    * We also have a friend who had said he would do the wedding (hes a photographer) - we just have to check he still will
    * Have kind of picked an accent colour - chocolate brown
    * Have kind of decided on the type of invite we want just need to try and make one to see if I can do it well enough
    * Got an idea of the flowers I would like - looking at growing them myself although the button bouquets look really cute and if its abroad will need to get silk/fake flowers
    * If we get married here I will make a cupcake tiered cake although need help in decorating them. (maybe go on a course if I can find one)

    Sorry to go on :o
Married the love of my life on 28th April 2011 :T

Not at all. I haven't really drawn up a strict budget yet but costs so far have been:

    Dress - £160 (Monsoon)
    Food - £1200 (feeding 42 people, once!)
    Welcome drinks - £175 (Prosecco)
    Wine with meal - £250
    Notice - £60
    Registry hire - £43.50

Haven't started to look at suits but we will no doubt be hiring, and I don't know what to do about flowers but they will be small as we're in a small registry office. Wedding rings - probably just from Argos but we'll see.

    Hope that helps! x
  • So... what are everones budgets?
And how many guests? I only want family and close friends at the whole do, I do not see the point in spending a shed load of cash for people i hardly see or speak to to come and have a good time :o
I am such a tight ol mare that i'm really gonna try and do this as cheapley and nicely as possible, have found a great site with great ideas!
Think the most expensive thing will be the reception.
I'm spending no more than £100 on a dress and shoes (if i can hep it)
My best mate is doing my hair and make-up
I'm going to try and persuade OH to get the smaller room in the registry office, it is only £40 and holds up to 30 whereas the other one is £200 and holds up to 80.
OH is Scottish so HAS to wear a kilt he says which will be costly to hire, plus our boys will be in them possibly.
I'm going to attempt to make my invites, I have quite a few crafting tools from when i started card making a few years ago so will dig them out, I'm going with a simplistic idea lol
My friends mum is a florist so am hoping to get a really good deal on flowers, although i might just get fake ones lol
Might just use my sisters car to get to and from the registry office and reception, it's a nice BMW, I dont need anything over fancy.
Gonna make up a list of questions to ask the venue when we go an have a look around, it's the same one we were looking to book last year for this year, it's £200 for the room hire then extra for food, it also has a bar.
I hope it doesnt come in over £1k for that, luckily though we can pay the £200 as a deposit then we can just go in and pay it off as and when which is useful as i'm on maternity leave at the moment so our income is a bit less than usual.
Oh and i'm gonna do and M&S cake (if they still have them lol)

Melly, our capacity is 42 and that's because we're getting the small room at the registry. If you can convince OH this is a good idea then do, it will greatly reduce your other costs as you will have less people to pay for xx
  • Venue £999 (includes civil ceremony for 100 people, basic buffet for 100 people, DJ, use of cake stand, use of toastmaker, room for bride & groom...)
Dress £200 (reduced from £900 from a shop that was closing down)
Veil £30 (BHS, if I choose to have one!)
Hair piece £0 (managed to get it free with my dress)
Shoes £0 (already got a pair I wore to my school prom, they are pretty and still fit)
Drinks reception £300 (bucksfizz for 100 guests)
Photographer £300 (a family friend is covering the whole day; that price includes album and digital images.)
Flowers £40 (all artificial, got dunelm mill bridesmaids bouquets, got my bouquet and a table decoration from GT decorations, will get button holes and flower girls wand from ebay)
    Extras for buffet £200
Upgrade of room to suite £30
Room 4 the night before the wedding (from me and bms) including use of pool, sauna etc £90
    Bm dresses & shoes £250
Flower girl dress £5 (from woolies sale!)
Decorations £150 (want balloons and a few other bits for not totally sure yet!)
    Favours £100
Cake free (my bm wants to make it eek!)
Seamstress £100 (unsure about how much this will be, got to meet with her soon to get a quote)
    Registrar fee £300
    Invites £20 (DIY!)
£400 in my terramundi (for me to treat myself before the day: beauty treatments, hair, make up etc! Also for gifts for best mans, bms, parents etc.)

    Groom stuff (no piggin idea!)

Have I forgot anything??? Is it traditional for the bride to pay for the hen night for all guests?
