  • Hi guys,

    I'm newly engaged (last week!) and thought I'd say hello. So far, we've ordered my engagement ring (get in in 2 weeks - yay!) and decided on (probably) autumn 2010 wedding...

    Oh - and I brought a wedding planner :-)

    Any advice appreciated!

    crldnll - where are you ordering your button bouquets from and are you having all-button or felt-and-button?

    Hi :)

    We are ordering our Button Bouquets from Etsy - From a women in Australia.

    If you take a look on my wedding blog (link in signature) the links to the button bouquets are on there :)
    Thanks

    Be careful cos tulips wilt easily esp. in the heat (if you are going for real flowers)

    Although the appointment itself must be within a year you can book the appointment earlier (i.e. I can book an appointment now to see the registrar on 10/8) . And our register office allows you to book the wedding date once you have made the appointment - the appointment doesn't have to have taken place when you book. Thought this might be an important distinction for people itching to sort things out!

    Planning on fake flowers to get around that very problem! :)

    Plus at our registrar office we cant do anything until a year before.

    She has reccomended I be the first there on the 27th august this year so that I can book the wedding. I then at the same time book us in to give our notice :)

    Panicking on that one as we have to book the venue asap, but cant book the actual ceremony for another 2 months! If we cant get our time at the registrar we could be in trouble...

    I'm not strictly a bride (civil partnership) & not strictly summer (3rd April 2010)! But would like to join anyway if that's ok?

    So far we've;
    * booked the venue - kp club - golf club nr York
    * booked the registrar
    * asked our 2 closest friends to be 'best women'
    * decided on the flower girls - 5 neices & our friends little girl
    * asked two friends who are very talented to sing/play our entrace song & signing the register song-we're having "here come the girls!" to come in to, Elbow "one day like this" whilst signing & Embrace "gravity" (our song)
    on cd to leave to.
    * bought tiara making stuff & made 2, 5 more to make
    * decided on felt flower corsages & started making the felt flowers
    * sent out save the date cards we made ourselves using a postcard template on
    publisher & printing on White card

    * bought 4 tree slices for £5! To use as cake boards & are on with sanding them ready to
    varnish
    * been to cheese shop & decided to use them for our cheese cake! Don't need to order til Feb next year
    * decided on invite design but need to make a couple to see if we like them
    * my partner has started making the stained glass candle holders we'll have as a centre piece on each table
    * asked my sister & a close friend to do readings

    Next prioities are;
    Finding a reasonably priced photographer, designing & getting a price for bespoke rings
