blimey aimex thats really organised :) well done you :)

well Im not really summer either, but planning on March 2010

Nothing is set in stone yet, but:

    - we have almost decided on the venue just got a couple more to look at just in case, but Im pretty sure we have chosen already :)

    - chosen bridesmaids and ushers, all ushers have been told and 2 of the bridesmaids have been....just need to try and tie down the other two for a cuppa one evening so I can ask them :)

    - bridesmaid dresses are picked but not ordered

    - colour scheme is primarily picked....although knowing what Im like I may change my mind lol

    - I have looked at dresses for me, but not tried any yet, Im not too sure what kind I want

    - the diet has begun..i have put on a bit of weight lately so I really want to drop a size again before the wedding :)

    - cake may be made by my best friends mum (as thats what she does for a living) just need to see if she can do the sort of thing I have in mind...I can see cake tasting sessions coming along

    - photography - i have asked a friend that I know from the vw world to do it, I love her stuff, and although she hasnt done a wedding before I am more the confident that she will do a fab job, and will give us some pretty unique shots :)

hmm thats it at the mo I think :)

OMG- Aimex you put me to shame! Im starting to panick its all going to be manic if I dont start getting my act together!
This is going to sound like a stupid question- what is 'giving notice of marriage?' we havnt managed to get hold of the priest at our church yet to book wedding (only sent an email to him, like in JANUARY!) we still have to get confirmed too- can anyone tell me how long this process takes because having looked on the church website it says that there are no preperations for confirmation this year so we have to wait until next! We are getting married next year! Panic!
:j :jTotally and utterly debt free as of 27/05/09!!!:j :j

Giving notice of marriage is where you go to your local registry office and tell them when and where you are to get married. From the Bristol registry website (and it's probably the same nationwide) it says:

"If you wish to marry in a Church of England / Wales you must normally either reside in the parish or worship at the church. You should first speak to the Vicar. If she / he is able to marry you, arrangements will be made for the Banns to be called three Sundays before the day of your ceremony or for a common licence to be issued. The Vicar will register the marriage and there is usually no need to involve the Superintendent Registrar in the wedding requirements."

    HTH xx

Hi, we're getting married on 9th April 2010, so hope I'm ok on here!

Right (deep breath) so far I've:

*Booked Registry Office (paying for in full in November)
*Booked village Hall for reception (Will pay for before xmas too)
    *Done fairly final guest list
*Bought Save the Date cards from ebay - fab bargain
    * Bought some notelet/card sets from Publishers Outlet and will print a nice insert for those and use as invites
*Bought dress, tiara, veil, shoes, garter, hoop & bag
    * Arranged fitting for custom-made corset (the dress was 2nd-hand so this is my 'something new'!)
    * Bought ties & waistcoasts for H2B & BM
*Decided on type & style of cake (friend used to own her own cake-shop and is doing it for me)
    * Not 100% decided flowers, but have a good idea (another friend's a florsit, so she's doing those for me)
    * Bought some bits and pieces to decorate the village hall
    * contacted local craft shop as they run jewellery making courses so I can make my own necklace etc.
*Arranged all the girls too look out for cheap bits of fabric and we're having a number of 'bunting-making' evenings (if anyone know's where I can buy some cheap Bias-tape, I'd be very greatful :-))
    * Mum's bloke got a nice car so hopefully he'll drive me to the registry office
    * Allowed friends to arrange hen-night, but told them what I don't want! Although the stuff I'd like to do isn't really suitable for a March hen-night!
    * done rough lay-out and how we're going to decorate the VH - keeping my eyes out for cheap fabric etc.

Things I still need to do:
*Actually tell people we're getting married! (I think that's most important!)
    * Find caterers
    * Find DJ (althouhg rellie had a good one at her wedding so get the number off them)
    * Still humming-and-harring about photographer, it's just soo much money

There's still loads to do, but I want as much arranged and done as I possibly can. Not sure if I'm a control-freak (well maybe a little bit!), but I just like to have as much done as possible so I don't have to think about it later on. Plus we've no savings so I want to buy things as and when so we don't get a big bill at the end.

I hope Septemeber still counts as summer - we're hoping the weather will still be good!

    Date - 11th September 2010!

Venue booked - one venue for everything from getting ready to breakfast the next day!

    Photographer booked

    Bridesmaids chosen

    Hoping to book DJ soon

Mum's chef friend to make cake (at friends rate!)

    Colour scheme - tiffany blue/aqua/turquoise

Think that's it for now, but doing a lot of looking at websites and magazines to get ideas of what we want!

Trying to hold back from getting too carried away too early, it's more than 14 months away.

    Laura :o

EDIT - anyone who wants a look its www.woodhallmanor.co.uk
