Both these are very quick and easy to make

hot pasta....drained and mixed with cheese sauce, cooked brocolli and ham, nice with garlic bread

cold pasta....mixed with finely chopped raw mixed peppers, spring onion, sweetcorn, tuna and mayonaise, great for a change instead of a sandwich or in a packed lunch

cheap and cheerful pasta recipie my OH loves.

add whatever veg you have to onions, garlic, tomato passatta, italian herbs and some chilli paste (just a little will do).... you can add minced beef (or even a can of baked beans if you're on a tight budget) and let it reduce. Mix in cooked pasta and put into an ovenproof dish, cover with some grated cheese and bake on 150c till the cheese has melted.

  • I'm interested in making more meals using pasta and ? is the question.
Can anyone recommend ingredients I can throw in to make something tasty, apart from the usual ingredients used in Lasagne and Spag. Bol.

A primavera style is always nice -- tomatoes, peppers, carrots, string beans, pea pods, zucchini, broccoli -- whatever you have on hand. Sliced black olives are nice, too. Chop them into bite-sized chunks (not too small), and just stir them into the drained pasta in the pot, and put the cover back on for a few minutes. Broccoli and carrots could do with a quick steaming before adding to the pasta to soften them up; the others get pretty well done just by the heat of the pasta (they will be tender-crisp when served). A touch of olive oil, some nice herbs, a dash of parmesan cheese... yummy!

    Tuna and brocolli pasta bake.
Cooked pasta, tin of drained tuna, and brocolli all mixed together. Pour over a cheese sauce and top with bread crumbs mixed with grated cheese and brown in the oven.

There are lots of ideas on these older threads:

    alio, olio peperoncino

This is one of my favourites. While the pasta is cooking, lightly fry some garlic and chopped chilli in some good olive oil.

Drain the pasta, reserving a couple of tablespoons of the cooking water. Mix the cooked pasta with the garlic, oil and chilli, a big handful of chopped basil and parsley and a handful of grated cheese, preferably parmesan. Moisten with cooking water and season. Eat!

adapted cheaper version of a Jamie Oliver recipe! :T

Steam or blanche some thinly sliced savoy cabbage

Crispy fry some chopped smokey bacon in a little olive oil... Add the cabbage til it's lightly coated in the oil... add the cooked pasta (I like twirls best with this) shave in some fresh parmesan.

Mmmm delish and only takes about 15/20 minutes.

    Hiya,

one of my favourites is pasta with green pesto, sun blush/dried tomatoes chopped up, pan fried mushrooms and onions, sliced black olives - mix -spinkle with grated cheese and serve (or grill first if melted cheese preferred)

    Cheers

You can always mix in curry with pasta. Goes just as well as it does with rice, and tastes really nice on garlic bread!
