After visiting my sister in her new home yesterday I drove through a gorgeous old village round the corner from her and I instantly loved it there. I have been looking at what the house prices are like there haha. Nothing will ever come of it, as its all too much change in one go that would never come together. I would have to sell my house, get a new job there and have a new mortgage approved as well as moving the kids AGAIN to a new school. Its hard enough to get a job these days. It would have been good to be near my family again but doubt it could ever happen at this moment in time.
Had a really good day yesterday. Went to B&Q to get a few plants and things for mum and had a voucher I didnt realise I could use there. I also saw these garden ornament stick things that glow in the dark and were in a pot marked up £3.98 reduced to £1 and they were really nice and brass with glass globes on them with a sun dial around them. I thought wow I'll get her a few of them at that price, I almost got a couple for myself. Got to the till with the other things and they scanned through at £11.98 each  They of course had to honour the discounted price :j So got £22 off haha, woohoo and used my vouchers for the other plants I got her.also got milk tray at tesco hopefully will get DTD as cheaper in Asda
Am supposed to be having a clean up day today but not even dressed yet and wanted to do some stuff in the garden as its not that cold at the moment. Oh well it wont do itselfMPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987

Have you tried the Tesco DTD yet? I started looking at it last night and planning what I would buy this weekend and now they have changed the price promise! I am gutted! Oh well!
Grrrrrr! At your Ex-OH! Why are some men like that when it is THEIR kids too! Sounds like you more than make up for him though!
Hope you have a lovely weekend

I have done a couple of DTD shops, yesterday had a voucher for £19.66 and £18.xx and went through without any probsForgot to put my new receipts in when I got home so have done them this morning and will have to wait untilt tomorrow to get the vouchers now
So basically at the moment I have had shopping all at half price but I have bought a couple of things (like cornettos) that I wouldnt normally buy. but hopefully as it goes on the cost will go down and down as you recycle more and more receipts on the next shop.MPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987

Have just checked my online account and everything for the month has now been paid so i can see what I have left over and start next months spreadsheet.
I have now OP'd £300 for next months :j and this has took another month off my term, end date now Oct 2020so 9 years and 7 months
My SS states that to keep to target I need to OP £263 a month. If ebay carries on this may be achievableMPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987

I think i missed the boat on the tesco thing and i hear they are trying to stop people exploiting the loopholes - how mean!
It's amazing to think you could be MF within just over 9 years and since you smash your OP targets i reckon you'd probably do it in less than that - maybe 7?
Your spreadsheet sounds good that you use for you OP's, where did you get it from? I use FB's and Thismuchiknow but yours sounds fab in terms of target setting.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
I had a ss from determind1 on here, then amended it on another sheet for other things that I like to keep track of. Its just a basic format in that my target is £5k minus OPs done leaves xx divided by how many months left.
ie (5000-2900)/8 = £262.50
i also added cells for working out % of LTV = 59% on the concept the house value is £115k, could poss be £120k
and % of how much of the mortgage I have paid off = 24% (£90k start)
I am a figures person lolMPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987

Considering my profession I blinking well hate excel with a passion to the point i have notepads with calculations all over the place. It is one of the few things i just have a mental block about.
Well done on the DTD savings, I have been lurking too and doing quite well as well. We have lots of wine, steak and fajita kits
Glad you have sorted out the kids plus a pammy sitter and woohoo for another month off the MF date. Do you think you can continue at this pace?? I am aiming for December 2020 myself and i had the theory that op will be slow to start but over 10 years earnings should be alot higher so ability to overpay should increase.MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000 -
well done on knocking another month off. I would like to achieve Dec 2020 too but I think it's slipping from my reach. So much to save / pay for.0

I quite fancy being MF in 2020 but think that's very much a dream. However would be lovely to be MF at 38 when many people are only just starting out. I wonder what my OP's would need to be to achieve this!!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0

I have really been thinking about moving back home, have even looked at the schools etc. There are a few things that are putting me off
* the hassle of selling my house
* the hassle of moving
* the cost of selling and buying - no savings now bought the car
* getting a new job over there would be really tough so I might not be able to get a new mortgage anyway
* leaving what I know here and the safety of a settled job
* putting my mortgage back up possibly 6 years
* moving the kids schools again
* moving the kids an hour away from their dad (not that he would care)
* dont know the area (would move near where my sister has moved to)
* supermarkets are not nearby as village location
Good things
* be closer to family
* kids would be absolutely fine to move (asked them and they straight away said yes, that ex's wife would love it as 'she hates us!') - thats what the kids said!
* The village looks lovely and the schools ofsted reports are excellent
As you can see I have already talked myself out of it lol. I think maybe when the kids are older and left school I may move back who knows. I go through stages like this!!MPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987

I think we all go through stages like that, especially with the spring weather and all the for sale boards that pop up everywhere. I didn't think OH ever wanted to move but we've been having random chats this weekend about what we would like etc. Not that we can realistically afford to move and be comfortable, plus this house needs a lot of work done, so our plan (for now) is to spend money in the house, do it up then if we still want to movem do it when the mortgage is approx 50k so we have enough leeway for better mortgage again.
Lots to do lol0
