This is a truly big step for me...publicly displaying my measurements in troublesome areas!! I can't believe I am doing this but...here goes.
Problem area number 1. My widest part of hips/bum is a tad under 40" so you may as well say 40" - waaaaaah! Boo hoo! I am a smidgen under 5'7" and (don't kill me y'all) have a small waist, which makes my a*** look even worse as it's out of proportion.
Problem area number 2. The tops of thighs are 23" around! And seems I have short legs in proportion to my upper body (hence a slimmer waist) I look like an oompa loompa...
Problem area number 3. I measured the area above my knee: 16".
Jeeze. Well as I said, I need to exercise to tone up these areas. I'm (just personally) not going to go for actual weight loss as my goal...I just want these bits to be a bit slimmer and for my trousers to feel better/look better. Plus I would love to be able to wear skirts in the Summer that don't make me look like a rugby player in drag.
If anyone has any tips for good exercises to target these bits...please let me know!

Hello LA - seems we have similar concerns here!
On a good note, storing fat in these areas is healthier than storing it round your tum! So hurrrah for that!
When I decided to take matters in hand, I had a chat with One-of-the-Fit-Blokes-Down-the-Gym (any excuse, eh? :rotfl: ). He told me aerobic exercise is the way to go. You need to go beyond 20 minutes at a time for fat burning to kick in. Lunges and squats are also good - you can up the oomph factor by holding hand weights while you do these. (I've been known to do the odd squat in the lift, but only if I'm alone!) It might also be good to do some weight training for your top half - this will even things up and nobody will look at your legs/bum if they're gasping at your wonderfully toned arms, will they?
Dry skin brushing every morning before your bath/shower will also improve circulation down there and improve the condition of your skin. Use a dry skin brush or a dry loofah and use firm strokes towards your heart. Start gently and build up to good firm strokes (ooh, er, missus!).
Finally, never underestimate the slimming power of fake tan! Don't go mad with ultra orange - I'd recommend one of the new body lotions with a slight fake tan in them. They give a lovely glow and I've noticed a fair few on special offer at the moment. They're also a lot easier to apply than the usual fake tan products and build up gradually so that you can control the colour. What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about? :eek:Official "Bring back Mark and Lard NOW! or else (please)" Member 160 -
Thanks MinnieSpender - some good advice there! I may definitely have to check out some of the body lotion with fake tan as I use body lotion every day so...could be a great idea seems I am disgustingly pale most of the time! Building up a really attractive picture heare aren't I? A very pale big bummed, thick legged oompa loompa! :rotfl:Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

 I severely doubt it's that bad! But if you are worried about looking like an oompa loompa, seriously leave the ultra orange fake tan firmly on the shelf!
Another great tip is to train yourself to walk in high heels. I've recently done this, and while my bum is still of J-Lo proportions, at least I look taller!
As the lovely Jack Lemon once said, "It's like jello on springs!" What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about? :eek:Official "Bring back Mark and Lard NOW! or else (please)" Member 160 -

:rotfl: Funny you should say that but I generally always walk with heels as I figured out a while ago that it makes my legs look longer & slimmer and does a bit of a favour for my rear end! And the other day I was walking (or should that be wiggling?) along in a long skirt & heeled boots and I thought of that Jack Lemmon saying!! If only I looked that good though.....sigh!
Funny though!Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

OK OK I need to ask. Seems we spend so much time on this DFW site (addicted or what?)...how many of us (given our shared goal) do the old 10 second butt clenches whilst we're sitting here? :rotfl:
