  • Not much going on from me I am afraid. have done my back in (how?? I don't know!) and I can barely walk let alone do anything else so........don't think I will be around much at the moment guys!

Good luck to everyone though and if you are physically able to move about/exercise...do it! Trust me, I am now wishing with all my heart that I had been doing more.

Going to use some light arm weights though whilst sitting down as I can do that...may as well do something!

  • Aw hope you are feeling better soon hun, there's nothing worse than back pain, and I guess that rest is the only thing you can do right now.

Hopefully you will soon be back into the swing of things (and have amazing arm muscles!) look after yourself in the meantime xx

are you counting those through food?

3500 calories is approx 1lb of body fat (Though of course, you might lose some muscle etc too).

Nope although my diet is very good of late (square low fat meals).
Doubt i'm losing much muscle at the moment... gym is currently running 45mins cardio then at least 45mins pure weights (bulking up if anything!!)

  • Now, here's a thing.

I've been merrily pumping the old iron for a few weeks now and saw my trainer at the weekend who changing my reps (more!) and weights (more!).

But the scales, they say - no change!

However, I'm getting some shape in my arms (watch out Madonna) and legs and my bum feels like it's received a good kicking.

And this morning while getting dressed I saw my ribs! Not in a xylophone way, but definitely the outline returning!

Yahoo! muscle weighs more than fat! By jingo, I think it's working!
 What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about?

Woohoo!!! Well done Minnie :T :T

The way you feel is a lot more important than what the scales say - so much can affect that. Keep at it :T

I've been swimming a lot lately and I'm really feeling it, aching in a kind of satisfactory way :D And clothes are gradually feeling looser which is just the encouragement I need!!

  • Well done Minnespender and Kathsfich, you are both right, I think it's far better to go with how you feel and how clothes fit etc rather than what the scales say.
You are both building up muscle which not only makes the body more shapely but burns more calories than fat and raises metabolic rate! xx

If you do weights and cardio in the same session, do the cardio AFTER you have done the weights...

    Why's that?

The fitness geeks at the gym told me to do the cardio first by way of a warm up - which does sound logical.

Just had lovely Sainsburys Be Good To Yourself spicy parsnip soup for lunch. Delicious.

Exactly what the trainer told me...
I do 35 mins cardio, my weights plan then a 10 min 'cool down'
