I have a 30Gb Apple 5G bought roughly 3 years ago.:smileyhea
Use it all the time at home via speakers & in the car via an iTrip & really wouldn't be without it. I really don't want to tempt fate, but it's never gone wrong and the battery life is still perfect. :j
I love iTunes & find it really easy & quick to use. CDs rip effortlessly & there is coherence in how iTunes collates the music.
My sister has a 4G iPod (the last black & white version) and uses hers more than I use mine & it's still going strong.
My daughter wanted an MP3 player for when she went on holiday with my Mum earlier this year. She wanted something with a screen and as she's only 8 I refused to buy her an iPod & wanted to get her a £15 cheapy thing, however she put all her money towards it and bought a 4Gb Creative Zen (this one), I think it's bloody awful. The software that came with it is so clunky & insisted on downloading the whole of my iTunes catalogue, which meant I had to spend hours deleting all the music she didn't want . Each cd seems to ake an age to load and then an absolute eternity to transfer to the Zen.
If you ask me the Creative Zen is no more than a glorified toy, if you're an adult and want a proper MP3 player it's got to be iPod all the way.

Another apple fanboy checking in.
Have had a couple of Shuffles, 1st Gen Nano and now an iPhone. My son uses the Nano, it's scratched to hell but still going strong after 4 years.
My wife has a shuffle.
We all share an iTunes library and 9 year old son and technophobe wife find it easy to download music, make playlists and update their ipods.
I have recently ditched the HiFi, bought some Aktimate speakers and have all music on iTunes now. The fact you can use the iphone/ipod touch as a remote is fantastic, as is the genius playlist function and general ease of use - i really cant understand why people find it difficult (though I already had a Mac with iTunes up and running before i got an ipod)
Perhaps you can explain more ...
Do you have an FM Transmitter?0 -

If you want a fashion accessory, it's got to be iPod all the way.
If you want a music player that sounds good, doesn't need any software (apart from whatever ripping software you might need) and doesn't require a separate headphones purchase, try iRiver.0 -

Try what from iRiver?
There are bout 20 different models.
And of course it needs software, it's not magic. It just uses software designed for managing spreadsheets in 1992, and not thousands of mp3s and movies in the 21st century.
Why this is a bonus is beyond me.0
