  • Hi all,

Well as it's the start of the month I have updated my charts (post 3) and I'm a little ahead of target so far which is great :).

I received today my pay slip for wednesday so now I knowexactly hat I will be paid and have changed my budget accordingly. Thankfully we will have enough (if we're sensible) to pay off our debts on the schedule we have set.

Found 22p in the street earlier.... isn't it nice when strangers help us pay off our debts :rotfl:.

Exhausting...... but definately worth it :D. Just returned from Weston Super-Mud and they behaved really well together. Not sure how two weeks in a tent will work out though (we're off on friday).

I am finding the summer hols very expensive though . Need to think more and plan I suppose. Will do that as soon as I have time.... probably around september when they're back in school :rotfl:.

  • Hi all,

Got back from holiday on friday and have only just got around to sorting out the finances. Unfortunately my pay and some of our direct debits have ben slowed by the bank hol - why can't my bank work this out I wonder?

This month should be a good one as there is 5 wednesdays which means an extra fostering payment :T. As this is not budgeted for I will try to payit all to the debts....although our credit cards will need some extra I suspect due to the high costs of our holiday.

Mrs Ging and I had a long chat and we want to be able to pay off as much as possible on our mortgage when we go to renew it in march. Mrs Ging said it would be great to pay off £5k. I agreed that we should aim for this however I have not told her that I actually think we could pay off £20K if we are really committed. Mrs Ging has no clue really about our finances and I would love to surprise her by quadruppling her goal. :D

We have also been very annoyed with ourselves about the amount of money we seem to spend on food/general groceries each month. We have decided that we are going to set ourselves a £1200 year challenge to cover all groceries - including christmas food and drink. For five of us this will be quite a challenge and will need to lot of home baking to make it work. I'll have to have another look on the groceries board for some tips.

I have also got my sewing machine out again. It's not been used since I was at school but I have made the boys gym bags. Thinking about doing a basic sewing and dressmaking course to brush up on my skills too.

So I have got quite a lot to focus on..... can't wait til schools go back so I can give it all a bit more attention.

  • Chart updated for August totals.
As expected we're behind our targets but July/August were difficult months financially. Hopefully we can get back on track over the next couple of months.

  • Just updated my signature and noticed that next month is the anniversary of our light bulb moment..... can't believe that since then we have alreadypaid off over £27,000 :):):)

Speak of anniversaries, today is my wedding anniversary so I'm off to make Mrs Ging a big (MSE) handmade card!
