    Hi all,

I've got a really busy day today. The third brother is coming for his first tea and I've got tonnes to do before he arrives (so why am I on here I wonder ). I'll be managing the contact alone which is not ideal for the first one so I also need to think of some structure to it to stop it turning into chaos.

Pants! Just realised I need to also go and buy another booster seat for the car.

    Best go.......

Hope the tea went well what ages are the children?

The two we already have are 11 and 8 (about to be nine and I'm hoping my cakes will turn out as lovely as yours :) ). The third is 7. However all the boys are developementally delayed and emotionally function between 2 and 4 yrs.

So basically we're about to have three toddlers on our hands! The tea went well last night and the boys managed to play without fighting which was great. However I think our boundaries are going to have to be very strict at first ;).

We asked to have them all nearly a year ago but the LA wouldn't hear of it.... funny how they changed thei mind when they couldn't place him anywhere isn't it . We could have had a year to slowly get them used to living together again but instead we're having to rush the change in which is not ideal.

Anyway, little rant over...... for now :D.

Just wanted to say hello and though I think I've probably missed a lot, I've subscribed to your new diary! I hope this isn't nosy, but how did you get into fostering? I'm about to start working in a children's home, and eventually (when I have my own place) I'd like to foster...

Got to click post quickly before I decide that I really am too nosy :D Well done for everything you've achieved :)

Our greatest weakness lies in giving up; always try just one more time

I am deeply offended by your nosiness ;).

I too worked in a childrens home and have always felt that a childrens home in no place for children IYKWIM. My partner and I approached a number of local agencies and picked the one that seemed to offer the most support. It's the best decision we have ever made.... even though it has also been the hardest thing we have done.

Go for it, it's worth it :D

Hi gingernutbizkit :hello: I stumbled across your thread and just wanted to say I think your such a inspiration. You and Mrs Ging sound so lovely and I think people who foster are amazing! I was actually just about to post almost the exact same post as ColleenPanda! I would love to get into fostering in a few years but really want to get some experience in childrens homes but I'm finding it really difficult as I all the posts I've seen require experience which I'm having trouble finding!!

Post #4 looks great! I think I might 'borrow' your idea if that's ok as this looks a great way to keep track of things!

Anyway keep up the great work!!

    xx

    Thanks... and borrow away :D
The best way to get a job in a childrens home is to sign up with a agency and do a bit of temping work in them - most jobs are adviertised to the public but go to agency workers who have 'proven themselves' by doing occasional shift with them..... it will also give you a test run to see if you like the work - it's definately not a job for everyone!

  • Hi all,

I got a letter from our mortgage company today to say that due to my first £500 overpayment our interest each month wil be coming down by a massive 26p :rotfl:. Still every bit will help us to reach our long term goal.

The third child came for a overnight stay on saturday so we will get a bit extra payment this week which will be nice - definately earnt it though :D. He's back on thursday for an after school visit.

Off to look for a larger tent.... think I might need to spend a little more to make a good investment as I can see us camping cheaply for the next few years as this will be a lot cheaper than going abroad with three kids.

Hope you all had a good weekend.

  • It was pay day yesterday so I've made some payments towards the debts. I have also updated my chart on post 3. I'm a bit behind on my repayment goal for July but I do have another payment coming in a fortnight that will help this.... we were also expecting this month to be difficult finacially as we have a lot of expenses invovled with the third child moving in and our holiday in august.

Speaking of which I would like a big pat on the back as I spent the whole day yesterday with Mrs Ging looking at caravans and trailer tents, fell in love a £13K caravan...... and decided to get a £300 tent :T.

Anyhoo...... the third child is coming for another visit for tea tonight and Mrs Ging and I will be speaking to all three brothers about whether they want to live together..... with all these plans in place I'm really hoping they don't say 'no'.

Better pop to Mr T's to get something for dinner.....
