Hi there folks,
Well, I left the ironing & DH did it yesterday morning :j
Yesterday was a baad day - I got an offer on Mum's house - which I've accepted - and although it's really good news it did make things very final. And then I came home and as DH had bought 3 new chickens & as Bluebelle the cannibal was having a go at them already I had to dispatch her to the great hen run in the sky.
So now DH is warning the dogs that if they see me with a spade - they run........
As a result I got very little sleep last night so I took 4 hours holiday today & came home & went to bed. I slept from 1 till 5 and now feel human again (if a bit confused - sitting here in my PJs)
Still, the offer on the house is a big thing off my mind and as they want to move in within 6 weeks things will move quickly. I'll rearrange my holidays to have time off over the exchange day as I have a feeling it'll be a hard day but it does mean that all paperwork should be sorted by the time I take DH on his surprise 50th birthday holiday.
So this weekend I'll be emptying Mum's garage & greenhouse (just as well we have a bit of storage space in our garage) and now need to make enquiries about having the house furniture sold.
Off now for breakfast & a cup of tea.....

Good news on getting the offer on the house, but yes I know what you mean by mixed emotions and feeling odd because it is "final".
I have to admit, that once I had "sold" my Dad's house, I could no longer go into it. OH cleared it out for me and put everything in my garage for me to sort out when I was ready.
Needless to say, it is all still in my garage 3 years later.......and I am still not ready to sort it out and don't feel that I ever will beI can't use our garage for anything WE need, because it is full of boxes of stuff I should have dealt with years ago......

Thanks Hypno,
At the moment I seem to be the only family member who can go in to Mum's house on my own. For the first few weeks after her death when I went into the house I went into every room & had a wee cry but it seems to have worked as I can shut myself off when I go to the house now & treat it as a job. I know it sounds cold but if it's how I get through this then it's fine by me.
There's not much personal stuff left at Mum's and her garage is full of stuff that we will use up - paints for outside & tools & stuff like that. And as it doesn't look like my brother will be coming up to help with this I just need to get on with it.
I don't park my car in the garage anyway....:D

Oh dear, shame on me, my ironing is still not done.
Guess what I'll be doing this weekend.
That was good getting an offer on your mum's house so quickly, I know it will be tough, but it will be better than waiting for ages for a buyer.
Take care

Thanks Primula,
I do keep popping in to read but the last few weeks have been awful weepy - the standing joke at work is that I have a nervous breakdown booked in - and DH thought it was on its way. But I'm still here & still sane (ish).
Also a lot of internet time has been taken up looking fo a holiday for DH's 50th in Oct. That's now booked & as he knows I can tell you lovely people in Diaryland
:j:j We're going to Hong Kong for 6 days :j:j
We've both wanted to go for a long time & we're using a wee bit of Mum's money (she always loved to see us travelling) -but not too much due to the tips I know from MSE & a massive amount of research.
And DH's brother was talking the other day about booking a week in Salou  (his type of holiday) & DH was horrified and said - We're going to HK for only £300 more.....
So we know we've got a good deal. I love being an MSEr, tightwad, cheapskate & any other word like that you want to throw at me
So in 6 weeks we're off. Woohoo.
Have ordered new suitcases as the last ones were held together by gaffer tape - but only after more research & visits to shops with sales & much saying of "They want how much ?". So suitcases were ordered with points saved from a credit card - and they're a good name & they are TRENDY:rolleyes: which is not normally one of my strongpoints.
Anyhow - must go tidy house before I make up a must-do list for holidays - More lists :j
Thanks again Primula

Morning folks,
I'm not making any plans this week (at the moment) as I'm getting one of my wisdom teeth out today . I've heard so many horror stories about this I'm a bit apprehensive - but it has to be done. And in true MSE style the claim form to get the money back for this is already half completed.
So I might be off work for a few days depending on pain levels and /or swollen or bruised face.
But there's plenty soup in the freezer and I've stocked up on paracetomal & ibuprofen so I'll survive. I might even manage to have a go at ebay if I'm off. The thought of my first attempt is terrifying but I'm sure I'll get hooked really quickly.
Have a good day folks

Hi CM
All the best for dentist, wise move on the soup front !
Ebay is highly addictive, you'll soon get the bugDC.

Well folks - I'm now back from the dentist minus one tooth & am looking like a demented gerbil before the numbness has even worn off . Speaking is a challenge as the mouth doesn't want to open too far (won't DH be happy) and I've already started on painkillers to take the edge of any pain that will come through as anaesthetic wears off.
So all in all I don't see me getting bck to work tomorrow as even if the pain is bearable there will be a few sniggers at the swollen face & I can't give any witty replies (not that I usually manage that anyway).
So what can I manage round the house....
I tidied this morning & the last of the washing is in the machine & the rest is on the clothes horse. The tea is in the slow cooker so I don't need to worry about that for tonight.
So I'm off now to arrange a chq to be sent to my brother, organise the dental claim form to be posted & to pay off a couple of credit cards in full :j. If I do a couple today, I can then re-evaluate and pay of some more tomorrow.
I will report back once I feel self righteous.....

And I need to clean out my handbag - it's scary.Debts 07/12/2021
