they have a hook on the ceiling and loop a rope or material over it, so the labouring woman can hold onto it above her head and use it to get into an assisted squat.

You know, there was a hook in the ceiling of the examination/labour room I was in at the hospital the other night, and I spent ages trying to figure it out. Now I get it!

Did everything except the Father's Day card today, and I'm honestly tempted to hold onto it for next year.

My pedicure was horrible though and my manicure as bad. Five of my toes were bleeding - three from around the nails and two from the top where she pumice stoned the tops of my feet!!!:eek::eek:
The bottoms are still as dry as hell, too.
And she cut all my nails to the length of the one that was broken, although I asked her to make all but that one oval and just to file that one. She didn't even manage to make them neat, and half of them have cotton wool varnished to them.

Oh, and my phone rang mid-pedi, so I answered it and then put it back in the special phone pocket in my bag and closed the bag up. I left the shop and checked my phone for the time ... but it wasn't there. I went back in and spoke to the manager, who found it under the back of the pedi chair. No proof, but hmmmmmmmmmmmm I will not be going back there.

ML experts! Just doing some rough (early!) thinking. My new EDD is Boxing Day (which is a Saturday) and obviously Christmas is a bank holiday - so can I request my ML to start on the 28th??? B/c I was going to take previous 4 weeks (or whatever...haven't decided exact quantities) as annual leave.

It sounds technical, but every day is precious & that saves 3! ;)

I think the latest you can start your Mat leave is your due date  but boxing day and xmas day are both public holidays so you should hopefully accrue them and be able to take them at a different time.

How annoying!! Like you are in any condition to be traipsing up and down to the hospital cos they cant be more careful!

    Thanks Skinty

After having looked on the net a bit (and finding the same story as you linked to) I called the midwife back. My count is 423 and the top it 'should' be is 400. She really didn't seem worried and said just see how it goes at the next appoinment and we will give you your notes then for the homebirth???? Will see what happens.

    Thanks for the reply xxx

One is not amused about day care today, or more specific, the bloody doctor I saw.:mad::mad: Firstly, I now have to get a GTT done as I had 3+ glucose in my urine (but only 1+ protein). BP is down to healthy normal. Told them about the side effects of the labitalol. MW I saw is anti co-codamol so I had to listen to her ranting and raving about how I shouldn't take it if it doesn't help, just take paracetamol. Totally ignoring when I said that I had been told to take them anyway.

Then the doctor turned up (and I had 10mins before I HAD to leave to get DS1 on time). He glanced at my notes, said yes to the GTT, dismissed me when I started telling him of my side effects and went into a speil about how the medication works, I know how it works (course he ignored this as I am just an ignorant patient). Then decides that I can go down to twice daily, which I agree too. Then he says come back in 4 weeks, excuse me?! No, says I, my consultant wants me to have a scan every two weeks, no need for that says he, 4 weeks is fine. MWpoints out that in 4 weeks I will be 35 weeks which is when I was delivered first time, blank goes his face, and 33 weeks was as far as I got last time. No 4 weeks is fine. So I pipes in that my consultant said 2 weeks and as she had actually read my notes I'd rather go with her decision. He looked put out and then made me wait ages for my notes.

Eventually I ended up leaving with my GTT appointment and notes but he still hadn't typed up the report so the doctor who was with him who happens to live in the village is going to drop them round tonight with my day care appointment.

Oh and he argued with me that my BP must have been high inbetween pregnancies. Hummmm.... I think I know my own medical history better than you you !!!!!:mad::mad:

Grrr, dont you just love know it all doctors who think they know better than your consultant

One of my sons had a serious illness and we were in hospital for a long time, I used to have to complain bitterly about stupid Dr's who wouldnt bother reading the notes, just ask me for an update - take my word about what dosage of meds he was on and not check for themself and then have the cheek to try and contradict the consultant

I hope the reduced dose of the BP med improves your symptoms, i'm snappy and irritable enough without them! My BP has always been a problem in pg aswell, i'm praying it behaves this time but i dont think it will as its already creeping up.

I really must make more time to get to know and catch up with you all, it's yonks since I last read everything!

Hugs for the nightmare medical day everyone seems to be having.

Had my 16 week appointment yesterday and for the first time in about 15 years my BP was a completely "normal" 120/80 (well actually 124 but who's counting?!). Midwife heard my baby's heartbeat good and strong - right over on my far right hand side, didn't realise it'd been reading the Daily Mail already! Had a loads of bloods done which took about 10 minutes including waiting. Clearly a Tuesday afternoon is a good time for me! I don't have anymore consultant appointments for 3 weeks now so am just going to relish being pregnant and loving my growing bump now. Its been a bit niggly today low down but I figure thats just things stretching and moving round so am not worried about it.
