Hi all! Just popping on to let you know Caitlyn Rose was born at 5.22am on Saturday 11th July! Went to be induced on Friday night and was put on the monitor for 2 hours because baby wouldn't keep still. I was getting tightenings but they weren't regular. Anyway the doctor examined me and I was 3cm. They sent me down to the delivery suite because my last labour was 3 hours. I walked round for a bit, was on and off the bed, then had some gas and air. That was fine but then it got more painful so I had a shot of pethidine at around midnight. That worked for a while, and to be honest the next bit was a bit of a blur! I just know that it got more painful and after a while they took me of the gas and air. It felt like an eternity but a couple of times the midwife examined me and felt how far down the baby was - all I could do was shout at her to take her hand out because it hurt! She said I pushed better when her hand was there! Then a sister came to help. They got the leg rests up for me to use, and 2 handles to pull on while I pushed, but I found it more comfortable to push on the handles! I kept resisting against pushing because it was hurting, I could hear myself shouting! They then got me a birthing stool, so I sat on that with hubby sat behind me so I could lean on him. I can't believe it I could feel her coming out when I pushed - and I'm afraid to say something else came out too :o

The relief when she was finally born was unreal! They said 'you'll be so proud of yourself when you realise you've done it' and you know what - I am! The pethidine had worn off and I had no gas and air.

She weighed 8lb 5oz and was 54cm long. I haven't slept since Thursday night because she wants to feed a lot and wouldn't settle in the crib. I came home this afternoon, fed her countless times and she's now in the moses basket. Hubby has done all the washing, so I'm going to try and sleep for a while.

Sorry, just realised I've put this on the wrong thread! Will catch up with posts later, but good luck and labour vibes to those who need them x

    Hey everyone,

I would like to also cautiously rejoin you all. Got another BFP on Friday & so have all my fingers & toes crossed that this one will stick.

Don't know how I'm going to get through the next 4.5 weeks without sending myself mad with worry.:o

    A.x

Yay!!! I did say I wanted to see you and EA back before I popped and you just made it! :D

Congratulations Pinkpig!!!!! You sound like you did very well! Hope she settles into her crib soon.

Went for a bath and feel a bit better. I'm now wondering if maybe... just maybe she is engaging??? I have pain on my pubic bone, my hips and the insides of my thighs but I can open my legs so it's not SPD?? Plus I've been getting the electric shocks from what I hope is my cervix (and my bum). Have had soft to diarrhoea for a number of weeks but yesterday and today it has really stepped up a gear. And lost a good few bits of mucus today too. Here's hoping. I know I'm only 33/4 and I should want her to cook longer but having had a 33 weeker I'm not all that worried. Plus the fact that my BP is still good I half hope I can go now and not risk it going up, does that sound selfish? It's just I can deal with a baby in special care but the thought of me having to leave my family all alone is just too much. I'm worried for me, there I've said it.

But then again, knowing my luck it's all just coincidence! And now I sound like a right selfish cow.

    Congrats pinkpig!!
fill a small bottle of water and as you are weeing pour it over you to ease the stinging:confused:

Just a quick word on this - it's a good idea to make sure the water is room temp or warm - NOT cold!!! Made the mistake of having fairly cold water in it - and ALL the muscles down there scrunched and tightened up really fast - it was sooooooo painful!!! I won't ever do that again!

Welcome back Nickabella. Fingers crossed for you this time.
