Have you heard of/tried Wonderweb for hems Michelle? It saves loads of time.

My washing didn't dry even though it was sunny - had to finish it off in the dryer. It was nice to see a bit of sunshine though

I've never unpicked pants before as they have always lasted the full school year plus I'm too lazy to do all that. My lads haven't got long legs..like me so they didn't need doing. My nephew though is tall and went through so many pairs of trousers. Best see how you go on throughout the year.

How's DS2 doing with his trantrums - is he back to normal yet?

Aww your poor Ds1 - it's worrying when they go somewhere new without you isn't it. I filled up when I dropped ds4 off at secondary school the other week. I was a wreck all day worrying about him...don't know why as I'm sure he didn't give me a second thought.

Hope your break is a good one, enjoy it. You always seem to be going away! :)

Oh poor her. Its not nice to be forced to go to some do when you really dont feel like it, especially with a newborn baby. I am sure you gave her all the support she needed.

Glad DS1 liked nursery, it can be heartbreaking if they didnt want to stay. On the other hand I used to be bothered that the other kids were upset and mine wasnt lol. Felt like I wasnt gonna be missed etc.

  • Hello,

Well done on the overpaying - you are doing really well. I know what you mean when you think how much more you could do, especially as in a very few years your boys will be noticing that 'all' the others have lots of expensive goodies..... Squirrel away while you can!

Regarding the trousers - mine were always through the knees of school trousers within three months. Never did I have to lengthen a pair before they were ripped to shreds from playground football!

    Have a good week,

    Squirrel
Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D

I am feeling fairly good about fitting in too. I hadn't realised a neighbour had her boy starting in the same class. We have only really said hello before, but she wanted to meet me tomorrow morning to walk up. There only appeared to be 3 people who knew each other already, so i am just going to talk to everyone and make an effort. Although it is not natural, i am as good as anyone else so i am not going to be shy.

Thats brilliant that you have met someone that you hopefully get to know really well and watch your kids grow up together. I wish I had that but everyone I met at mums and tots there kids went to a different school and we have sort of drifted apart.
I moved my kids to a new school and it has been hard to try and make conversation with people who already know each other. A year on and I only really chat to one or two mums. I am quite a shy person and its hard for me. I then get a complex that no one is talking to me lol. I wish I could go back a couple of years and the kids could start right from reception class here.

I dont even know half the mums of the kids my kids play with. This is why I want to push myself to join the pta but I cannot find a sitter for the kids and I am getting more and more peed off about it :(
I just then get depressed or paranoid but I dont really do myself any favours.

I had a friend whose DD was a little minx and she loved to make my DD cry or just generally wind her up on purpose. She never really shared her toys and would snatch and just be horrible and bossy. I really didnt like this child but the mum was just like me and we got on so well. Its such a shame as the kids seem to link you IYKWIM. I wanted to keep the adult friendship but didnt want my DD to play with her child. Sounds shallow I suppose. Hence I am no longer in contact with the mum anymore.

I think it might have hit home and DS1 knew what was happening today, yesterday was a trial run. Its not nice when they cry but 9/10 they are fine the minute you leave.
