I just wanted to say, about the cat, it doesn't sound good and as you say his quality of life is poor.
So don't feel guilty about the putting down rather than treatment.
- apart from anything else if he's attracting flies/maggots it's going to be unpleasant. We had a sick bunny and it was flystruck - having said that we discovered this on a sat evening... by the time the vets was open (Monday) salt baths, tweezers and much effort had cleared the maggots, to the astonishment of the vet. Nevertheless he was in such a poor condition there was clearly an underlying problem. Treatment was tried but he died anyway. Would have been better to have had him put to sleep sooner.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Chelle about the cat, you have given him a good life and if the whole clipping thing stressed him and the stress of anestetic etc sometimes its just kinder to let them go no matter what cost implications.MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000

Hello,
Sounds like the cat had a lucky break today. But whatever happens you shouldn't feel guilty - most people would say you've gone well beyond the call of duty already. Hope tomorrow is better,

Sounds like a domestic day is in order with cake baking and blackberry fiddling. Hope you get some peace and have a good birthday with OH. Cats are such a worry - they are part of the family but when things go wrong its sometimes such difficult decisions that need to be made. You sound exhausted so hope you sleep well, love and hugs to your moggy as well poor wee baldie bottom boy XX0

No point in driving yourself into the ground to save a few blackberries. There will be plenty more next week and picking them is half the fun. A nice cuddly storytime with the boys sounds much more conducive to an easy life. Aaaah!

Hello there, Good news on the cat front. I can well imagine the potential dilemma around choosing to have him put down. We have always had cats in our family and they are very well loved members of it, but my goodness it's an expensive worry when things go wrong. I wish you luck on the future bottom-shaving front :rotfl: he must be a placid animal - it'd be a three person job if I needed to do that to my cat!!

Oh no, terrible twos! Glad I am away from that. Just try and stay firm with him, he is definitely testing the boundaries. A friend of mine used to be so soft with her lad that he just walked all over her and was at his beck and call all the time. No sirreeee sunshine, mine are told and I stood firm. I know you would like to give him something else as he hasnt eaten it but he will eventually get the picture that he cant change his mind once its made.
It is hard when you are doing it mostly on your own with no let up but in the long run they will be set up for an easier life for yourself. Being a single parent my children now know when I say no I mean no and I get no whinging like other children do.
I know it is wearing you down but you have to stay firm and not give in to the tantrums or he will do it every time. When I watch supernanny and programs like that I cant believe what some parents do for their children and the bedtime routine is a good example. I definitely think that putting him back to bed continuosly without talking or giving him an audience is the best thing.
I may sound really harsh, I dont mean to be but I like it that my kids know I am boss and what I say goes, and that I have 'control' over what they can and cant do etc.
