Bumbling along to be Mortgage Free

I bet the kids love blackberry picking. You remember times like that when you look back at your childhood.
It's been a poor year for growing though hasn't it. I have loads of tomato's, only a few little red , loads of green. some small carrots and onions. My garlic did very well though. The only thing I'm impressed with. It's saved money so can't grumble..I can't be bothered updating this anymore0 -
Good luck with the no spend weekend. Shame yours are too young for Monopoly - we used to play games with our boys that lasted most of the day...... and it improved their maths!

One of the reasons we didn't spend too much is the cat seemed unwell. We spotted him dragging his rear end across the floor. This is the disabled cat who regularly has health traumas. Please don't read the next bit if easily grossed out and definitely not if you are eating.
We noticed he kept needing to poo, and he had a clump stuck to his back leg so he stunk. We decided to bath him in the garden to see if that could make him more comfortable. His fur is really long, and gets badly matted around his rear end as he can't groom it. We try to but don't have a lot of luck getting near him.
When we looked closely at the clumps today, we noticed that he had maggots crawling around in his fur. We have had a right job trying to pick them off him with tweezers to stop them burrowing into his skin. We are hoping we got it all as we were on with him for an hour and then had to give up as the kids needed our attention, and also by this point he was feeling fed up and grumpy.
Hello, goodness you are having a time of it one way or another at the moment. Your description re the cat and maggots reminded me of fly strike in sheep which can be very distressing - my uncles were crofters so I saw this quite a lot. You may already know all this so feel free to ignore me but it might need a insecticidal cream [sp?]. Apparently it can be a problem with rabbits too according to this article http://www.smallstock.info/info/health/flystrike.htm don't read it if you feel squeamish or hungry BTW .
Well done though for persevering with your cat, poor wee thing. It sounds distressing for you both and the cat. One of our cats [my best boy ever] got a condition which I can't rememebr the name of but it meant he couldn't poo on his own and we had to give him an enema every few days. Bless him he was very patient but I found it quite distressing on his behalf. Might be worth talking to the vet nurse on the phone in case you need some cream or spray? Good luck and sending you thoughts for a more restful week. Teapot0 -
Hope your cat comes home soon, am sure he's just sulking! Although i'm sure he must feel more comfortable now you've cleaned him up a bit. Yay to the lie in, DH and I try to get one each a week when we are both here in the morning, never seems to stop us feeling exhausted tho!
Hope you've managed a cheap weekend, i wish we had!!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Hello,
A lie in is one of the best free things in life, especially if you can get a cuddle too. Even better in winter... Nice book, tea. Great. I do feel for you with your cat and think you have been extremely brave and loving to deal with his problems. Not many would do this. Hope you have a lovely week,

I seem to fill my bin up very easily, we have more mess now we have the guinea pigs and I have 2 more days before the bins get emptied so I might attempt to put the bag out of the bin and see if they take it.
My garden has taken a back seat and the weeds are loving it and now taking over. I almost feel embarrassed about them but dont have the inclination to get rid of them to have more come back!

they are just things to put on the taps and showers to reduce the water flow, a dual flush on the toilet, a hose sprayer and something else I cannot remember.
I know what you mean about being organised, I normally iron on a daily basis the stuff for the next day but sometimes, (like now) I am really not in the mood to go upstairs and iron a few shirts and trousers! I just cant get in the mood to stand and iron for a few hours. occasionally I do it and its nice to not have to do it daily but i hate ironing!
That meal sounds nice. I watched come dine with me today and the lady did roast potatoes and coated them in cous cous which made them crispy on the outside so I am going to try that.MPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987

I am going to be looking around for a bit of inspiration on OS i think.
That sounds lush, as Stacey would say. It's such a faff making breadcrumbs though - before I went on my diet and stopped eating bread (though had 3 slices of toast yesterday, nom nom nom) I used to make a load, add the garlic or herbs or whatever (the bit of cheese that always goes hard etc) and freeze. If you stir a few times while it's freezing it doesn't clump togtehr and you can just take out what you need.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

I guess its 2 fold. Because we are in, we make more mess and dirt. Because we are in, we spend more time tidying the mess.
This is the reason I stopped being a SAHM in the first place and went to work full time. It was easier! Adult company, no children running around, no dirty bums to clean, clean home to come home to...hmm and now what have I gone and done.. finished work to be a SAHM again! Oh the joys! :rotfl:
Have you watched 7 pounds another Will Smith film? ..now that is sad.
hope your cat is better today. poor thing.

I dont think I could be a SAHM now, I'd go mad or most prob spend too much time on here wasting the day away!! You do need the adult company and conversation.MPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987
