I don't believe in the terrible two's . If it exists then there would be the terrible 3's, 4's and so on ! ( Right up to adulthood !)
Like Pammy said you have to be strong all the time even when your tired, ill etc. or they run rings round you, he's testing you. I wouldn't let him have anything else if he didn't eat it.
It's probably the incident with your friend that he's feeling. Children sense things are not right.
funny little things...who'd have 'emI can't be bothered updating this anymore0 -
PammyJ is quite right. Mine never got options with meals and they are all 6 foot and extremely healthy. I am always so amazed that people let their kids leave acooked meal, and then give them snacks. Then of course they are not hungry for their next meal and the cycle continues. It really is common sense, and like you, we had no budget for second choices. It was eat it or go hungry. If they chose to leave it that was fine but they were very hungry for the next meal... They never really knew what snacks were until they went to school! And as a result there were no sticky fingerprints over the furniture either!!! What an old dragon I sound... We had great fun really - probably because when they know that no means no there is nothing to fall out about.
Hugs to them both, keep the faith and think how much worse it would be if it wasn't you with him, but a stranger.

Wow, that looks like a great climbing frame, I'd like one for DD but the layout of my garden is pretty rubbish, too shaded in the lawned bit, and too many midges, grrr.
Well done on being a strong mummy when it comes to food. I had a mini battle with DD this week about some scrummy soup I made. She said it looked repulsive and that she wanted something else. We'd already agreed earlier that she could have icecream for pudding, so it was a case of - if you don't eat the majority of your soup, you're not getting the pudding, and you have to stay at the table because it's a mealtime and we always sit together.
After a couple of minutes of pushing the bowl away and me ignoring her and stoically eating my soup, she picked up her spoon and ate the lot. At the end she said it was delicious soup and would I make it again next week, lol. Kids eh?!?0 -
I'm like you - I've got nearly all DD's presents already, just the "big" present left to get, which I'll wait for her to maybe suggest something or I'll buy her a desk for her bedroom, as she's desperate to have one up there.
DD only likes "Tuscan Bean Soup", so I often make any old soup and chuck a few beans inIt's amazing the amount of hated celery and lentils she'll eat if they're in a tomato base with kidney beans and chickpeas, lol. Tomorrow night will be a case in point (insert evil cackle here).
Well done on making the £1.04 overpayment - over the length of your mortgage, it's probably worth £50!0 -
That is SOME climbing frame. It's massive. Hopefully it will burn lots of energy off. It's a lot of money but a good buy. You're such a good mummy.
Your like me , a worrier, I'm too worried about money at the moment due to spending on DIY so much. It's even woke me up at 5:30 this morning and everyone else is in bed. Daft as Im not on the breadline by any means.
Well done on your OP!I can't be bothered updating this anymore0 -
Aww enjoy your meal out..yum yum.
Ouch on the cost of the climbing frame, however I am sure it will be worth every penny in the long run.

Climbing frame looks great. Well done with not allowing any tantrums to triumph. I saw a child having a major tantrum in town today and felt so sorry for the mum, but she probably did the right thing by ignoring him.

Hello,
A big climbing frame is a brilliant investment - they will use it for the next ten years and their friends will love it too. Much better than indoor toys which have a much shorter age-life span. And you can play on it too!
Hope you enjoy your Bella Italia treat - you deserve it.
We are off to a wedding this evening which fortunately is within walking distance so we are both looking forward to a good night out and some embarrassing middle aged dancing!
