Hi Cha97michelle,
I have been reading this thread with interest and was just wondering when you make small overpayments does the bank recalculate or does it wait until you have a set amount, we have a northern rock mortgage i think will only recalculate when we OP by £500, also did you choose to OP and bring morgage payments down or did you OP to reduce term or are they the same thing?
It is worrying that we have had a mortgage for three years and still don't know how it works!!
Thankyou x0 -
Hi, Michelle. I think you did just the right thing over your DS2's savings. Whats the point, as you say, if you can't do right by your kids?
I'm very envious, since I have worked out that overpaying at my current rate, I will get the mortgage down to 230k when I am 40!!!! Paid off at 61, aarrggghhh! Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
Oh CHA97michelle I agree with you about your sister. I used to have a simliar situation with my little bro, its only after I left him to sort things out on his own that he got his head around his finances, and now hes as frugal as me!! he, and the rest of the fanily used to laugh at me too!!
So sorry to hear about your poor cat, its not an easy situation for you. x15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j

I know what you mean about sisters and money...My sister in Law, pleased with us for help with a CCJ, so My OH gave her the money, and before we've been paid back, she's booked herself a holiday!!! "To get over it all, and get away from it for a bit." I heard once "You don't solve someone's money problems by giving them money". Too true. I'm SEETHING about it. She's getting Martins Money Tips book wrapped up for Christmas (once I'm finished with it of course!)0

Hi Michelle, I pick random diaries to dip in and out of and recognised your name from the Frugal Living challenge, so last week I chose yours. It's been a lovely read over the past many days and brought so many smiles to my face. I'll be egging you on from the sidelines. You really are an inspiration and have so much energy and enthusiasm, its infectious!! :T
Hope you have a lovely birthday.Mortgage
