Nice to see you had a good day. There's plenty of time for not being "tight" when you have plenty of spare cash once the mortgage is gone.0

Happy Belated Birthday!! _party_
Sounds like you had a lovely day, had to laugh at your DH and sons trying to surprise you in the morningcha97michelle wrote: »I realise i am a bit sad though when i spent birthday time doing my ISA research.
And you're not sad. You've just got all your marbles in the right place!
I think you're making the right choices though, when your mortgage is gone and you're pretty much open to anything they'll think twice!0 -
Michelle your list is very similar to mine today!!
I'm so with you on the chocolate thing. I was doing really well on Slimming World, but lately i seem to have developed a real addiction to chocolate. I think it's because I'm supposed to be 'dieting' I'm actually getting obsessed with eating anything I can get my hands on. I ate a creme egg at 8:15 this morning
Hubby brought the cross trainer in last night for me, as I feel like I really need to do some exercise, so I'm going to try and do a little bit every day, even if it's just in 5 minute intervals.
Have a good day xMummy to 3 fabulous boys all under 4 :eek:0 -
Hello fellow tight wad
I'm called this as I turn off the microwave when I've finished with it, so I'm not wasting electricity on the clock that it hasMortgage Aug 12 £165K, Aug 19 £0

I do that as well, just requested a electicity usage meter device from npower so i be a mad woman possessed! Also i used to tell OH about somebody on the forums makings small OP's and that i am not as ms'ing as that but i have realised that i am, i have found out how to do online payments into mortgage account so i am going to be as bad! x0

Npower sent me a leaflet saying if you change to paperless you billing they will send a using device free, i assume that it will work in anybodies meter so if you know anybody who is with npower get them to change and borrow theirs!0

Morning! I don't think you're a tightwad at all - just sensibly frugal - what is waste but money down the drain? As I tell my kids when they leave lightbulbs on (even though some are energy saving;)) is that it's 10p that could be in my purse and not the electricity companies - 10p I could use for something MUCH more interesting than lighting an emply room...because, as we all know, these 10ps soon add up!
Tight is when you WON'T spend even though you COULD AFFORD To to replace things that need replacing or to buy stuff you NEED - a whole different rationale from looking after what you have and making the best of it. My ex-inlaws were tight. I drive past ex MILS and she has a pane of glass broken in her bedroom - been covered in cardboard for over a year!
I got a Standby Saver from British Gas (free as I'm on WFTC or CTC) - they're about £20 BUT when I put the TV on standby it shuts down the TV and anything else plugged into the strip. Only thing is you can't have the sky plugged in as that should not be switched off, only left on standby as it loses the signal.
(My sky box acts as a freeview BTW as I cancelled the contract)Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Still lurking Michelle i enjoy reading your exploits.
Well done on ebay i never seem to make much money on there i once made a profit of 4p on some expensive trainers-oh wasn't impressed!
Ive been meaning to ask about your cats, i presume you had them while you were pregnant with both boys-how as it? ok i presume? was there anything special you had to do (obviusly im not touching the litter etc phew one job i hate!) but after the birth were the cats ok with the babies? Practically everyone we know (who actually all dont own cats) have told us to get rid of ours as it'll smother the baby! mmmmmmm (i'm also sorry to hear one of your cats is so unwell, only you can decide whats best for it but he doesn't sound like he's having much of a nice life-it must be so hard for you)0 -
hi Michelle. I have just started to try and sell on ebay and was interested that you mentioned a postage calculator. How do you find it on the site? ( I have just looked at comparable items for sale and copied their postage costs so far!) Thanks.Member of mortgage free in 3. £13,000ish to go on mortgage but now running out of  money!
