According to my tesco(ayr) they have dicontinued shuffles....ipod that is. However they were expecting a delivery of the 512mb shuffle but they had no delivery date...i reckon it will be unlikely before the 18th when the deal finishes. Oh, and i dont suppose anybody knows any great wine-to-point deals on at the moment??...if you do it would be great if you could PM me them. Thanks..
  • Just in case anyone is interested, they still have some Ipod Shuffle 512MB in the Tesco Extra store at Newbury. They had 6 instore, but i purchased 4, so there should still be 2 left.

I tend to use the Deal Vouchers for airport car parking & magazine subscriptions, so they will always get used - so this really is a bargain, with over 4000+ Clubcard points awarded for the transaction.

You can call to check they are still there, but as mentioned by others previously, they will not reserve/hold them for you - i took a chance and drove 30 miles roundtrip to get them. Best of luck.

    Many thanks to the OP.

Just got mine. Great Stuff and good spot to the OP! :T

Wading into the whole points conversion debate, I think it's down to what you need them for. I personally attribute more value to the AirMiles because I don't really need most of the other deals, and have family and friends overseas. Can I also say that AirMiles can be spent on a range of things not just flights. You can also use them I believe amongst other things for booking hotel rooms, which is often better financially compared to buying flights. :money:

    Doesn't look that way.

Try doing a hotel search on their site.

I tried one for two nights in Bangkok. You can pay in Airmiles or cash, so it's easy to work out the value of the airmiles:
2 nights in Grand China Princess = 1160 miles or £61, therefore 5.3p/mile.
This makes a £2.50 club card voucher (60 miles) worth only £3.16, compared to £10 worth of deals.

It's not even close to being the same value. If you got airmiles worth even £7 or £8 as compared with £10 on deals it might be worth it for the convenince of being able to book flights and hotels rather than having to work out tesco deals, but when it's £3 to £10 there is no comparison

Wow...that little??? Its not this bad a value when your using them for flights right?? So you dont reccommend using the vouchers for airmiles? I want to use them preferably to buy flights, BA fly the route i want to so maybe there better value?? But i would happily use them for travel/holidays aswell. What travel company are the vouchers worth best value for money with???...Any one got any opinions??

    Thanks

Wrong, wrong, wrong...With the airmiles you're getting in the end something that has a clear, full cash value & which can therefore be used against the purchase of anything travel-wise - even if it's on say a 50% off sale.

With Clubcard Deals tokens you've only got access to ridiculously over-priced meals, or full brochure prices, ie. I get 50% off a restaurant in Kensington whenever I go there (through toptable.co.uk), & it's available for Clubcard Deals tokens - but only at the full price. Hence the Deals tokens, in this instance - are only worth double the cash. I tried several travel agents within deals, looking for cruises & holiday villages...yet they all refused to offer me the sale weeks avail. at the sale prices, &insisted had to convert the vouchers to the full brochure price...nearly triple the sale price.

MFI? Not knowing anything about fittings & furniture, I'll stick to appliances - look at your Smeg 60/40 - £1,200 at MFI & they don't even provide a model number, so no idea what year it is from & can't compare easily. But a quick check a pricerunner reveals latest models selling between £600 & £700 - how's that worth 4x then?

Same goes for virtually everything else available - and hence why I cringe when people say things like 'free food' or '£8 for an ipod', as is a mug's calculation.

That is true, but there are worthwhile things on the deals. The days out tokens are particularly good - again you can get discounts on a lot of places, especially theme parks, but for most places you would be paying full price. You might not otherwise go to the places, whereas you are almost certainly go on holiday, but IMO a £2.50 clubcard voucher worth £10 off say Woburn is really worth £10.

As you say, the holidays are difficult to make work in the sense that a lot of the places (understandably) use inflated prices, but even so the fact that it's '£10 worth' of vouchers (which do as you say have a lower value than £10) as compared to airmiles with a real cash value of about £3.50, means that you can stomach a lot of price inflation on the tesco holidays before it stops making sense - paying £1500 for a holiday worth £1000 is absolutely fine if you are paying for it with tesco vouchers - it's still better than trading in for airmiles.

And as I said, you do need to pick and choose the deals - service or MOT from Nationwide Autocentre is an excellent deal - MOTs cost much the same anywhere.
Dry cleaning vouchers - also a good deal.

Silly restaurant vouchers and buyagift crap? Waste of money.

Goldsmiths is ok, a pricey jewellers but if you are going there anyway, it's a winner - 75% off, and knocks the airmiles into a cocked hat.

Ferries, Eurotunnel vouchers, etc. are all likely to be good enough to beat £3.50 worth of airmiles as well.

well on BA, best deal in september to New York is 3190 miles return, plus £128.60 taxes

Outbound Dep 12 Sep 06 (Tue) 13:40 LHR

    BA0177 Arr 12 Sep 06 (Tue) 16:10 JFK

Return Dep 24 Sep 06 (Sun) 09:15 JFK

    BA0178 Arr 24 Sep 06 (Sun) 21:00 LHR

Full fare would be £247 plus same £128.60 taxes.

    So £247 = 3190 miles = 7.7p

This is better than the hotels, valuing the voucher at about £4.65, but still not enough IMO.

I haven't used any of the tesco holiday companies, best to look around.

Thats ok for flights. I would like to buy a flight to Los Angeles, and i guess airmiles is the way to go. Your example "thelawnet" doesnt sound as bad as the example regarding airmiles-hotel in terms of their value for vouchers. I have to date £50.00 in tesco vouchers, which would be £200 in deal vouchers but if i change them into airmiles i wonder how much they would be worth(the whole airmile thing confuses me :-). Should be able to get about another £80 in vouchers by Christmas giving me £130 in vouchers (and thats £520 in deal vouchers)...to change into airmiles. I want to travel this time next year to Los Angeles and flights are usually around £400rtn then....do you think i will have enough in airmiles from £120-£130 in tesco vouchers? Please give me your advice guys, id really appreciate it.

    Thanks very much
