I am also being encouraged to apply for an additional role (unpaid but get hols and remmission) which if I get might actually be the opening I need to launch my career into the area that I want (teacher training)...I have always been there to take the boys to school and bring them back at hometime and this new role will mean that ~DS2 will have to get the bus home possibly 3 times in the week.............

Maybe these opportunities wont come around again, do I put my career first for the first time ever in my life.......or do I wait until DS2 leaves school in 2 years time????

    What do you think?

    Do it.

I will have to do something but I know that it will be a total shock to the system for the 3 lads.

    I do everything.

It will be a good shock. Best to become independant now, rather than be poking at a suspicious looking 2 month old kebab because they can't cook and it's all they have in the house...

Thanks for that Bookie, I guess its the little things that are praying on my mind like dentist appointments as DS2 will be having a fixed brace on soon and if its pouring down with rain (I know, I know) but these are the things that torment me.......

I hope he doesn't read this. His mum has just called him a wuss to the entire internet...

I got the bus for the first year of my junior school, and walked for the other three. In the words of Robbie Williams "The rain was never cold when I was young."

Took 40 minutes - but I only had little legs... ;)

He says he doesnt want people we dont know in the house cleaning:confused:

Well that's simple - he does it. If he *really* doesn't like people in the house cleaning - then he'll make a good job. If he doesn't make a good job - then it wasn't that important anyway, and the cleaner will make a good job.

Pap - my mother has similar problems with my grandmother - part of the reason it upsets her so much is she wants her mums approval more than anything and her mum constantly and knowingly wont give it - its a power game that goes on between them...

I've got around it by taking my mums advice with 'thanks for the suggestion' and just going and doing what I want and when she catches me out I just say 'well its my life and my decision' - its very difficult to do, but the first time is the hardest - it gets easier...

Girls and their mums eh! Never and easy relationship I think!

Why does mothers have to be so dam spitefull or is that just my Mum

    Well it's not mine...
Mum didnt like the idea of me staying over in Weymouth (yet I did at Brum only 2 (ish) years ago) so I caved and am now travelling on the day. I have been offered a car (have a full licence but havent driven since test day nearly 1yr and 6month ago) and she doesnt want me to buy the said car  Ok it will mean £50 insurance and savings for mot etc every month which I can do at a push, but why cant she support me even if it is the wrong choice  No when my lil bro brought a car she was all for it (hasnt passed his test) and when my sister rolls up in a new car every 6months she is their patting her back... !!!!!! cant she just be happy for me ~ for once. Oh and dont mention the dreaded CD around her now!!!

    Are you the eldest PAP?

    afternoon all.

Sammy - so glad the money is there for you, especially with a weekend coming up.

Lou - please seriously consider going for it. Getting into teacher training is going to be an expanding area of work- more and more people are going to have to do PTLLS and all tutors have to then get CTLLS in the next couple of years if they don't alreadyhave a B Ed, PGCE or Cert Ed. We are going to be starting DTLLS soon so it's the kind of qual. which is getting more and more popular.

My mum wanted to do a degree all the time we were growing up and always came up with excuses - I have to be there to get your youngest sister from school, I have to be at home to cook your Dad's tea - it was more about her own confidence to go and do it, rather than our worlds falling apart if she wasn't there for a few hours or had to make a few changes to our routines, which was such a shame as she is incredibly clever but didn't get the opportunity to go further than OND and HND level.

PaP - perhaps if you said you were stopping over and assured your Mum you'd give her the B+B address? Would that help the situation?
