Glad to hear your feeling a bit more positive today Cinny. Good idea about looking into a little part time job as well. Must be really tough for the whole family at the minute with all the worry, got everything crossed for you that things get better.
Speaking of cars and petrol, we are seriously considering whether or not to get rid of our car for a while. OH doesnt need it for work anymore as his parents house is a two minute walk from his new job - but on the other hand we use it to visit my family/days out etc... It would really help with paying some more debts if we got rid but i dont think OH is really keen on the idea. Decisions decisions.Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -
What's the public transport like near you Flower? If it's good it may be a good idea to get rid of the car. Do your OH's parents have a car you can borrow for days out?Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0

Even a rental car for days out, or the train to visit your folks. Cars are a huge, huge undertaking, and if you don't need it right now, pay off the debt then start saving for a new one.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

The public transport is ok, not great, but then again not the worst I have come across. His dad does have a car, which he has previously lent us and doesnt have a problem with - but he works shifts of days and nights on rota, so its often hard to know in advance when he will need the car.
I think if it were solely my decision I would get rid, but OH is the main user of the car so I feel like it should be his decision. Think we need to have a proper chat about it when he gets home from work.Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -
Flower - if you were to get rid of the car and wanted a day out or to go visit family train fares can be pretty cheap if you get the right deals. Might be an idea as it'd be a massive chunk off your debt and you'll be saving on petrol, insurance ect.
£56?! Crikey Dinah! [STRIKE]If[/STRIKE]When it gets like that with OHs car we'll have to start using those weird flat things at the end of our legs to get places again, OH is thinking about getting a bike to keep at mine too as we can easily bike out to Rufford and Clumber instead of driving (plus they're free days out) I'm going to have to stop my spendy spendy ways as of next week I think, we're going to have a tight month in September - plus the money for the holiday in Dec is due in October so I need to pull that from somewhere. Although I've liked the freedom of just buying what I think is pretty, I've really quite missed my budgets and spreadsheets, as much as I'm trying to kid myself I haven't!
I don't think the companys is going to go under anymore, or to the point of me or the other office girl loosing our jobs. But the cleaning money will be a good boost, and I'm used to living off my wages as it stands so the extra would no doubt go into savings or something.0 -
Well even if you got the extra job Cinny, one set of wages could be purely for spends, and the other could be savings and budgetting. Would set you up well to have savings to fall back on if the worst were to happen or if you wanted to move in with Rich, and you could enjoy yourself like you have recently.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

:rotfl::rotfl:What are those? I dont think I remember using them!
I think they're called fet? ..fete?
Found a job cleaning for 4hrs each Thursday, would get £25 for the afternoon which would be fab but factoring in petrol to get there and then tax I don't think it would be worth it really?0 -
How far away is it? Would you go on the scooter? Tax on that is only going to be about £5, so I think it probably is worth it.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

I'd guess about £3 to get there and back, £17 for an afternoons work isn't too bad. Would just be a matter of me leaving work 30minutes early if I could do it in the afternoon. But then most people like the cleaning done in the morning. Hmm!
Hey, think I could be a bouncer? I know I'm small but I look pretty tough if I cross my arms and furrow my brow.0
