Sounds like things are a bit tough at work, is horrible when that happens.
Don't you worry about saving loads of money, you are only 18 you just enjoy yourself. You are very sensible and know not to get yourself in debt so as long as you have the money you are doing no harm. You can worry more about the savings when you are in a better position to do so.0 -
What's PB? Am I being thick? You sound a lot more positive today, glad you're feeling better. Are you allowed to just take a book in and man the phones when it's quiet? Wish I could, there's not much at all to do here, I've been trying to spread about 2 days' worth of work over 6 weeks. Still have to try and look busy tho :rolleyes:Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0

Premium Bonds, I've offered to put half into the company on a loan basis and half into my account to live off of so the company has one less person to worry about pay wise. My grandparents would be fine with it but my Dad keeps on telling me not to worry but in the same breath says it's all up to me, my brother and cousin to keep the company going. I think these past few weeks have sent my Pa abit wappy.
We can bring books and magazines in, but it's just easier to surf the internet because then atleast we look busy if someone comes in
Filled my Vespa up from 1/4 full today - £5! It was only £3 a couple weeks ago. Got some Go Ahead crispy slices things from the garage too, only 54kcals a slice, need to get back on my diet as I've been reaching for the biscuits the past few days.0 -
I'm with Tete, what is PB? Surely you'd be able to get some other job if needs be? We keep having people on the radio from the job center saying there is not a job shortage, but a shortage of jobs people WANT to do. If you're able to drive lorries or heavy things, or are willing to take care of old people, there are loads of jobs still.
It's really rough about the company, how many people are having to be let go in all?Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Urgh on the petrol news - its due to be £1.20 by the end of the year. Thats a LOT. That will put our petrol bill up by at least £50 a month.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Oh lordy, £1.20?!? Now I'm glad I drive a crummy little Punto, it doesn't cost too much to fill!
That's tough about the company Cinny, I suppose it's good that you've got the Premium Bonds to fall back on. You won't need too much to live off anyway if you're not getting paid for a while since you save most of your wages. Dinah's right too, can you find a little part time job on the side? There are still plenty jobs around if you're not looking to walk into The Greatest Best Paid Job In The World!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Yeah I've noticed petrol creeping up again, the 99p thing didn't last long did it? Or are Asda still doing it but Tesco have stopped? Grr. I put £30 in the other day and it didn't quite fill, normally only costs £25 to fill. Need to travel about more for work, can usually make a bit of profit from the rates they give
Well France and Germany are now out of recession aren't they, so hopefully it won't be long for us and all things workwise will pick up for everyone. Ugh.Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Unfortunately they're sitll predicting more jobs to go here, and house prices to start to slide again in the autumn, so if we do come out of it, we might well go back into it! Especially for our region Tete, which still has a 4.9% monthly decrease in house prices, the nation as a whole might be out of recession but its likely to remain grim up north.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Dinah - At first we had to let 4 go, but then things picked up and we bought one of the guys back. So just the 3, I just hate how my Dad is being made to seem like the bad guy - he spent months keeping them on when we were loosing money and could barely eat or sleep before he had laid them off, it's not like we wanted to!
£1.20?! I'd hate to see what Diesel is going to be. Me and OH could barely manage to fill his old car when the prices peaked last time - I think the highest it got was £45 for a full tank. His new car cost £40 to fill when Diesel was at 99.9. Blimey!
Another job wouldn't go a miss, I was thinking of looking into cleaning work or something as I can fit the hours around the office easily enough. Just a matter of the tax man!0 -
I think that is a great idea (and it would make your dad feel less guilty if the worst came to the worst and he had to let you go), and you're a little domestic godess anyway so it would be a good organised job for you! My car now costs £59 to fill up, and I have to do that once a week. I don't think it is economically viable for me to go to work!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
