House is nice and tidy as both boys were out all yesterday and had sleep-overs;) DS2 has been back and is now at church.DS1 is yet to appear(doesn't like to show his face till lunchtime:rolleyes: )
OH is off to Ludlow races for the afternoon so hopefully he'll have a few winners!
Have a lovely Sunday all!:wave:Do what you love :happyhear0 -
Going to hospital to see my dad this afternoon. When we went yesterday he was in a room with 3 other people who all looked much more "ill" and were wired up to equiment etc.
When I asked what the doctor had said I got told that my dad was anaemic, had a rare blood group and they needed to send out for blood so he could have a transfusion?????
He said the doctor had said something about leukaemia and bone marrow?
After spending all night worrying myself sick I decided to wait and see what happens in a day or so, as I find it very difficult to believe that in less than 24 hours they have diagnosed two serious problems as well as angina and anaemia!
Just a pity this is a holiday weekend as there are fewer personnel etc.
Still deciding what to make for lunch for DH and DDs - may do potato salad and fish or meat from the freezer ."This site is addictive!"

Afternoon all
(((hugs))) to elona and thinking of your dad. ((hugs)) to anyone else in need too.
Just a quick one today - it's DS1's party today so I've made all the sandwiches, cooked the nuggets, prepared the veg sticks etc and taken most of it down to the summerhouse in readiness for the onslaught of small boys. I've drawn a big Dr Who and just need to fashion a sonic screwdriver and find a blindfold so they can pin it onFootballs are all pumped up and stereo is ready to take down there (more so the adults can listen to something) Wine is cooling too - most importantly
I think the only problem I'm going to have is the fact that DS2 thinks it's his party - his birthday is in 3 weeks. I've said he can 'share' this party, but I hope he doesn't have a fit when he doesn't get any pressies today. I've tried explaining - but whether he truly understands is another matter.
Ok - best go and find the candles and get the cake down fromt he top of the cupboard. I may be on later - more likely I'll be a little the worse for wear as some friends stay on after...Well, the boys will have tired themselves out so can sit and watch a dvd and go to bed......:)
Have a good day everyone.

Afternoon folks,
Well DH is back in the country and on the drive back home. So, I am expecting him somewhere between 3 and 4. He's bringing with him some tomato plants grown by MIL (tumbling cherry toms and some full size ones) ... and a litre of vodka
My new hoover is FAB!
So, far this morning I have cleaned our room, DD's room, the bathroom, the snug, the living room, office and one flight of stairs. I reckon I have about an hour to get the rest looking reasonable, then DD and I are going to brave Morrisons for milk, eggs and veg.
B - Cereal
L - Cheese toasties
D - steak and ale pie with whatever veg Mr. M has left and jelly (blackcurrant with a tin of mandarins (okay okay I know it's an odd combination, but hey!) and tip top for pudding.GC - March 2024 -0 -
Hi all
I've had to re-join under a new name as I was unable to post at all under my existing id!
Quiet weekend here, overcast & chilly though not raining yet.
Washing is drying on the rads & we may go out for lunch, hubby is treating me.
Hope everyone has a good day.

arg, i wasnt hungry until I read about your dinner PP. I bought some aubergines so OH could make baba ganoush & pitta for tea. I was really looking forward to it but I really fancy roasties now.
Good luck to everyone who needs, looks like a bit of a mixed day looking at people posts today.
As part of the new me I am planting up a little herb garden in a big pot this pm, painting a few fence panels, picking in three loads of washing & then back indoor to make a pudding with some peaches i preserved in amaretto last september. Maybe a crumble, not sure yet.
Best wishes everyone

Hello everyone
Nice to see the thread being nice and lively today, with lots of happy people around.
Queenie...I didn't realise that Pecksniff products were so posh! TKMaxx always seems to have lots of it, and I've been overlooking it all these years. Maybe I'll give it a whirl after all, specially as it's always a v.good price.
Nutty - I've had cats for years and years now. The only problem I've ever had with mice was when one of the cats absolutely adored me and used to bring me special presents of live mice - he'd race in and drop the poor mouse at my feet and I'd then do a dance and squeal - I think he thought this was joy on my part (it wasn't). As you're allergic to cats getting a cat or kitten doesn't really seem like a logical idea, especially if it turns out not to be a natural "mouser".
Elona - it sounds like the doctors have to assess the situation before they can come up with a firm diagnosis. Shame on them though for even mentioning their thoughts to your dad when they aren't sure. What's the point in worrying him unnecessarily? The consultants should be back on Tuesday so you should get some firmer information then. They'll have had a while to monitor him too, so there will be more evidence to use to make a proper diagnosis. I think I'd let the consultant know how upsetting it has been for these serious conditions to be bandied about when nobody is sure what the exact problem is. As I said before, at least he is in the right place and they are keeping an eye on him and keeping him comfortable. Maybe when you're in today or tomorrow you could find out who the consultant is, and also the name of his secretary - he or she could be a useful ally and be worth befriending.
MushyPeas...gosh, are you really going to get a 3,000 word essay done today? That's a lot of words.
Catowen...I had one of those stupid calls during the night too. My number used to be a taxi firm's so every now and again I get drunken twits calling me up. It hadn't happened for about three months until last night - it went to answering machine - then they hung up and called back and left a message saying "hello...helloooooooo". I'd have stayed in bed but the answering machine makes the most irritating beep noise when there is a message so I had to go and shut it up. This was about 3.00 am...I was nice and warm and cosy in bed and really didn't want to get up.
So far today I've reread the play I am studying - it's a tragi/comedy, didn't realise it on the first three reads!! I've got a load of bedlinen whirring around in the washing machine - have a few more loads of washing to do. Other than nip out for a pint of milk and go for a walk later, I'm going to concentrate on books today.
Have a lovely Sunday everyone.
