when I cant get disabled space,,ive a habit of parking over 2 space,so tht ther is plenty room for me

We went to a major disability equipment show for children a few weeks ago - the car park was heaving with large mobility cars and wavs - all in standard spaces - very tight:eek:

A couple of people had parked over 2 spaces - they all had white tickets on their windscreens! A bit unneccessary!!

Its something that puts me off using a wav. Several of my friends have vans with lifts in the back and say that parking is a nightmare.
I just keep straining my back lifting both my son and the wheelchair in and out of the car.

With the stickers, I agree that it sometimes doesnt seem to make any difference, but then we are never around when someone parks to close, gets out, sees the sticker, and the repositions their car further away.
Just because we dont see it, doesnt mean that sometimes it doesnt happen.

And on that philosophopical note - I must have coffee|!!
The place I find the worst forpeople parking too close is the hospital!!!!!
I have often put my own massive sign up in the back screen too...
If I dont have my son with me when driving and I have to use a 'normal' space I find it much easier to reverse it in(im good at it now!!!).
It did take a while to get used too and was like driving a tank at first but it is so much easier(if you can get parked of course!)
 Am thinking of a new one:beer:

Yes my DLA (mobility component) is all used for my car, which is leased on the motability scheme (which I consider to be very good value).

BTW, I earn money too. I may be disabled, but not totally dependant on my husband.

You're very lucky to be able to work and have two incomes which allows you to have a vehicle dedicated to your needs, quite simply we can't afford to do that. And you're lucky to have a husband well enough to work, mine isn't.

BTW I can't work. Not 'it would be difficult', I can't. Having brought up my eldest son on my own while working full time then supporting my husband (also very ill) and three children I was, until I became disabled, a very productive member of society. I say this only because, by your tone, you appear to think that disabled people who can't work are inferior to those who can...

Hi I recently got a new car on the mobilty scheme and when they sent my tax disc it had disabled written on it.

Number 1- I know I am disabled but does it have to be written on the tax disc for everyone to see aswell, I Know its not a big deal but I would prefer it not to be written on it.

Number 2 - Can I change and if I do will I get into trouble with the police

    Please help!!!!
if you change it you will be fined for not displaying a proper road fund licence[road tax] people who steal cars etc commit fraud change them as it tells you the make of vehicle you are driving and how much you paid/unpaid for the disc even though it is free it still needs a MOT after 3 years,I used to be in that `line of work` and really believe me you dont want to touch them, but don`t worry nobody will see that on the disc except people who are looking at them in their line of work the average person in the street never looks at tax discs
please do not pick on me for my grammar,I left school at fifteen and worked in the building trade for 55years ,

Not at all, but I inferred from your comment that you assumed that because I'm disabled I don't work

I wasn't picking on you, simply correcting an assumption

I have just returned from holiday in Dorset and a lot of the car packs there only allow free parking for blue badge holders if they are exempt from paying road tax! I had never seen any thing like that before = they must have traffic wardens with magnifying glasses to check them all!

That seems to defeat the point of a blue badge that can be used in any vehicle :undecided

Sometimes my parents or SIL has my daughter, or we use our other car that hasn't got a disabled tax disc on it so that would have to be remembered when parking.

It does defeat the point of a blue badge, you are right, but it is happening simply because the blue badge system is now so abused, it's the only way to get round this problem.

I am sure this isn't the solution, because surely You would just park your car on the road instead. I know I would if I was only going to be a couple of hours. In saying that I have always said that a blue badge shouldn't mean you don't have to pay. But you should have a biggger closer space. And before anyone has a go at me YES I have a blue badge.
I used to be me !! what happened
