We have free road tax for my daughter, we have never been approached in 2 years although we do get grief for blue badge even when its always used 100% legit
  • Hello James260,

All vehicle taxation classes are on the tax disc.
As your vehicle's taxation class is 'Disabled', that's what is printed, whereas mine says 'Alt Fuel Car'
The change the tax disc, you would have to change the registration document, and then pay the road tax for yourself. With the vehicle being from Motability, I wouldn't have thought that was an option.

I can't imagine anyone staring at your window screen to view the taxation class of your vehicle.

    Regards
    Munchie

It's a case of grin and bear it, and I'm sure, with a little sunshine  it'll fade a bit.

No-one's ever commented on my "disabled" tax disc either. It's only the taxation class; I have another car which is exempt as it's a "classic" (although I don't drive it cos I can't!) and both have "Fee paid: £0" on them as well. They would still say this even if the name of the taxation class was changed to something less "embarrassing". If you don't want anyone to know you're exempt from paying car tax, the only way to get out of it is to pay it anyway I'm afraid :o

Oh, and by the way, leperosy is an illness which people catch thru no fault of their own. Your comment 'stand out like lepers' is pretty offensive you know.

I must say sorry to those i have offended ..no offence meant..

You must not deface your tax disc as it will become invalid if you do.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

No dont do that as mentioned

My daughter is disabled, and right now both me and OH could kick her up backside for not doing enough at home, she is a lazy student now, but thats another story. Outside she wants to be treated normal and I am sure everyone else does, thats why this scheme and discounts are there, to try and help.

Dont worry about this get on with your life and try and get a normal life in this crazy world

Suspect you are feeling super conscious of it. I did too at first and thought everyone would notice. A word of advice is if you renew your tax on line next time its nice neet type face where at post office its the big hand written words! Honestly though I really dont think people notice like we think they do when we're just getting used to these things. I actually put off getting my tax disc for 6 months and paid for it because of it, despite penny pinching to pay for it. Was too busy getting head round disabled label to cope with the extra stress and issues related to accepting disabled label.
