  • As of today my account still hasn't had the 100 pounds credited to it. Think once I have paid my visa bill for this month will just close the whole account. Can't understand why the money hasn't been credited, keep your fingers crossed. Didn't put the second instalment of 1000 pounds in until the 17 march so maybe there is still time?
  • I checked my balance today and i got my £100

    We shall see
Do Barclays think we are a bunch of muppets or something. I mean do they really honestly expect us to think that some clerk is on piecework manually applying £100 payments to accounts

I signed up for this at the end of January, on-line, just before they withdrew it. (Husband applied on-line the day after me and also just scraped through)

We both received a letter stating there was a backlog and they would write to us again to tell us whether we were successful or not! About 10 days later we were told we had been successful but we had to go into a branch to open the account!

My husband received his chequebook, pin number etc etc and I received nothing. Yet another visit to another one of their branches to chase matters because I wanted to deposit my first £1000 but had no account details. All staff had no idea the account existed - so spent 40 minutes with a customer service adviser who tried to get hold of the department dealing with the account applications. After she had been on the phone for 30 minutes, they put the phone down on her - I left none the wiser  In addition, I paid £1.50 parking charge for visiting the branch to sort it out!!

Anyway, eventually got sent a cheque book and card (which I cut up immediately), paid in the two lots of money in Feb and March and to-date, no £100. To add insult to injury, my husband received his weeks ago despite the fact that I opened my first. He closed his today.

I cannot wait to close this account - I was thinking of getting a quote for home insurance - no way now!!!!

Another complaint form completed today at the branch!

I put the second £1000 into my account on the 9th March. I have chased the £100 on two occasion, both times they have confirmed I will get it. On Thursday I received a letter from customer services confirming that they are looking into and it should be settled by the 9th May! So much for getting the money 28 days after depositing the second payment. I will be on the phone on Tuesday asking for re-ibursement of the telephone calls and some form of compensation for the inconvenience. If I don't follow the terms and conditions they charge me.

Thank you Martin - have just got the £100. Also I found that this account gave me access to a Regular Saver paying 10% gross, so I am keeping the Barclays current for monthly-usage-in-and-out money, with only a very small balance staying in the Current but some of the money going on into the Regular Saver. Have I understood this correctly? I do hope so. If not, well it's all savings! Before anyone reminds me, I have used my ISA allowance already (but thanks for the thought).

I applied to open the account at about 8pm on Wednesday 18th January - the day before the cut off. I have paid in £1200 for two consecutive months, and there is no sign of the £100! I've phoned Barclays and they say I should have received a claim form when I opened the account - which I didn't!
  • Likewise I am still waiting for my money. Have phoned Barclays and they tell me that they are just overwhelmed by how many people applied (really??!!) and it is taking longer to credit the £100 than it should, but that I will get my £100. So I'm going to sit tight and wait till it turns up. It's a cheaper option than phoning Barclays again!!
