Thanks for that info ladies. I did do VERY comprehensive descriptions of the items, including what you suggested PHEW! When I looked back later and compared them with other people's, I thought I'd gone a bit OTT...but you seem to say not!

Any tips for packing for posting would be welcomed.

One of the trickier items is an expensive bra with rather large moulded cups, was almost thinking it needed a box as bit worried in case the cups were damaged in transit!

Also selling a bikini, the famous Autograph pyjamas mistake buy (from an earlier thread!!) a chiffony dress and some trousers. Wondering best way to pack them. haven't got any seller feedback yet, so need to get it right!

It really doesn't matter to me as long as the items reach me intact although I know that some people get a bit miffed if the packaging is recycled but I don't really understand why. A bit of tissue paper is nice if the item warrants it but everything is always laundered and pressed by me any way. Some things arrived wrapped up in black bin-bags but as long as it's secure, it's OK with me. Other things have arrived almost gift-wrapped with ribbons and one with flower-petals which I thought was utterly charming.

I once won a lovely trouser suit which the seller chose to put in just a manilla envelope. When the item arrived it was in one of those plastic packets the Post Office uses for things that are trashed in transit. Honestly, it was a miracle it reached me after having been flung around the sorting office, the original envelope was in tatters. I left positive feedback but mentioned how poorly packaged the thing was and oh Lord, what a snotty message I got about how he "didn't appreciate" my comment. I thought I was doing him a favour for his future sales and how he could ensure that his nice items actually reached their destinations and told him so. Afterwards, I almost regretted not leaving a neutral for the daft sod, it would have served him right if it had never arrived and he'd had to give me a refund.

I bought a load of the silvery blue envelopes from ebay to send my items in. They work out at 8.85p each and look the business! I had positive feedback on all of my items so far! (I'd better get good feedback from the person who got my red bridesmaids dress for 99p and paid cash on collection having waited for a week. Although bless her she did pay £1 to DH who I made do the deal as I was in bed.)

I am giving ebay-ing some clothes a go while I'm having a clear out.

Do you have a preferred length of auction? I normally just stick it on for 3 days as like to have them over and done with. But is this stupid?

I tend to wrap most things in tissue paper, then slide into polythene packing bags, or into a carrier bag & then jiffy bag. Occasionally I have had to box something, but I usually add extra to the postage for the "hassle factor"!

I find the best way to fold is as if you were a sales assistant in a posh shop, or packing a case, with tissue, so the item is as uncreased as possible. I have also invested in decent packing bags :)

My auctions tend to run for 10 days, and have a standard phrase at the bottom, saying "no returns, sold as seen, any item not paid for in 3 days will be relisted"....saves any hassle from anyone trying to return something.

I've got 100% feedback over 765 transactions, which I have worked hard to gain and I don't want to lose it over something like poor packing!

Another question if you don't mind :o.....you are a very patient and helpful lot!! I should prob post it on the eBay board, but anyway....

I have just received a Buy it Now request on the nearly new M&S Autograph jim jams bought in March , that cost originally about £38 !!
On at 99p, have numerous watchers, no bids and 3 days to run........how would you experienced ebayers respond?

    Thank you!

    How much are they offering?

Re: the length of listing thing, I always stick mine on on a Thursday night for ten days, my theory being that people have long enough to look at it.

    Hi Bronnie

Ask the person who wants a Buy-It-Now to make you an offer. If the offer is a reasonable one you can add it to the auction.

    Good luck!

Have just spent quite a bit of time listing quite a few things on Turbo Lister & tried to upload, but got an error message about "not a valid leaf category".....

Guess I'm going to have to do it all again into Ebay & I wanted to watch last night's Torchwood before tonight's episode...... :(

Have posted the question on the Ebay board, but has anyone here got any clues?

    Thanx, Floss x

Well I did email her back to nicely suggest she might make an offer, in the meantime someone started the bidding, so she said that means you can't do BIN

Really must read up some of the "rules" :wall:

    Thanks for your answers, ladies!
