Hi,
I have never sold any clothes on ebay, but I did used to buy alot. I stopped buying as I was getting too many things that were not in good condition or not as nice as I had expected. I used to search for my favourite brands and look through what came up.
I never seem to get that many major bargains, I have had some good deals but nothing to make you go wow. I always seem to want what everyone else wants!

I search for plus size clothes & have had some nice pieces. I have also sold plus size & done well.
My sister sell kids clothes but they need to be branded to really do well. She sell her kids stuff (often reselling what she bought) & picks up things in charity shops & car boots.
One of her best was a new pair of baby Nike shoes for 25p (charity shop) that sold for £11!!NEVER ASSUME! :rolleyes:0 -
I buy & sell quite a few things...... best bargains / resale has been a Monsoon dress that I wore for a function - cost me £8 and resold for £37! (Oh and a huge box of Lego that eventually sold for £127).
I tend to sell a few things, then buy with the proceeds. I am more selective nowadays, just buying what I need rather than what takes my fancy. I do tend to operate a "one in, one out" policy, and charity shops will tend to get more things that I have removed from my wardrobe as I don't always have time to stick things on Ebay.
"Giving stuff away" can happen, but you need to remember to put a realistic postage price on - this covers not only Royal Mail, but packing & an element of "time" too.......sometimes this can make the difference between making a loss & covering your outlay.
I would say that the best sellers for me have been good quality branded items like Per Una, Monsoon etc. Also good quality, clean little-worn shoes / boots can be quite good sellers too.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Hi yes its true I am a total ebay saddo! I buy loads from there and usually check it first for prices when I am buying pretty much anything but saying that I also do reasonably well selling. I am a single mum (no financial or emotional support from other side) and decided to start selling my sons no longer needed things on ebay and what a success! Now I really only sell play things that are outgrown and I have just sold all my sons old bedding as he has now moved into a midsleeper and requires single bedding (made a bid deal out of it and redecorated his room to match the new 'half price in tesco' bedding :rotfl:) but each time he moves into the next size of clothing I bag things up into bundles and sell them at a buy it now price. I also buy a lot of brand clothing for him off ebay which makes reselling them a tiny bit easier. I have had a couple of things which were stained or not as I would have liked but on the whole I find people honest.
I hve to add that I am a total shopaholic when it comes to my sons clothes (but funnily not with anything else) and have even managed to make £150 for one age group which I then 'recycle' and use to buy clothing for the next age.
I also make the most of Tesco clothes sales as things can go down really low (recetly got a coat for £1.35 and a long sleeved top for 38p) plus I work there so get a discount too.
Anyways enough rambling from meEmma

I have sold on Ebay, as others have said the branded items sell best.
I have seaches for my favourites as it saves plowing (ploughing?Plowing....it's early ) through all the listings. I like Monsoon, LK Bennett and Boden best.
My best bargains?
A pair of navy blue peep-toe high heels by Peter Kaiser for £15. They normally sell for around £85 or so. I wear them LOTS!:money:
A pair of DKNY (Donna Karan) butter soft kid kitten heels - also £15. :money: Unfortunately the colour, beige, is not fantastic for me but I can work with them as they are soooooo lovely!
A heavy-weight beige pure wool wrap with a frilled edge which is so elegant. £12 a couple of years ago :money:Penny0 -
I've been a hobby seller on eBay since 2002 but gave up work to become a professional seller last June.
I sell clothes and accessories...mostly vintage or vintage inspired (bold retro prints) and stuff in buy when I'm in India. Sometimes the items I think will sell really well don't and then other things go for lots of money ie., a pair ofvintage socks sold for £122!
I'll never be a millionaire but I can pay myself the same wage as I was making working full-time and can work to suit myself, giving myself lots of free time to pursue the activities I've always been interested in but never had the time/energy to do when I was an employee.0 -
Goanmad - that sound like a great lifestyle. How great to have had the vision to think of your niche for eBay and make it work. (Your wardrobe sounds fabulous too - have been reading the what are you wearing today thread!)
I sell and buy on eBay. Sellingwise, I have done well with new boots and shoes that I couldn't wear after I injured my knee. I have been trying to follow a tip I read which is to sell like items together, then people who like one of your items may buy more. It seems to be working, as I have had some multiple purchases, and a buyer threatening to move in so she can share my wardrobe.
As for buying, my best bargains have been a beautiful Lupo handbag, RRP somewhere around £270, bought for £9.99, (and it is gorgeous, pleated leather, little purse attached) a going-out dress bought for about a fiver, and lots of little cardis/wraps.I have searches saved for more unusual items so I get emailed if anything comes in, and I run the searches for more common items as and when I need them.

I've bought a few clothes on eBay recently, I've set up email alerts for my favourite things. I've had Laura Ashley, Toast and Bravissimo things recently, all in fantastic condition. There are quite a few people selling Bravissimo clothes and I've saved a fair bit of money.Got married 23rd May 2009, many thanks to all on the Weddings and Anniversaries board for their help and support!

Great idea, Hollyberry.
I buy more house stuff than clothes, normally. My best bargain was a vintage Indian carpet, still with the 1920's import labels on. It was £4.20 and local to us, therefore easy to collect. I also love the "Collectables - vintage/retro" section for scraps of vintage fabric and obscure framed prints.
When clothes-buying I usually look under "Ending Soonest" and put a price range of between 0- £3 in the search engine. I only buy vintage clothes on eBay but do check under "Women's Clothing" as newbies tend to list in the wrong categories.0 -
People who sell on ebay, perhaps you could advise;
does the price you get for everyday stuff justify the effort? I see so many things on there with no bids, that it makes me feel like I couldn't be bothered to post stuff in the first place.0
