Hi, I am a newbie to this board. Can I join in? What's the form?
    Queen Bee

OK - thanks for the welcome...

I have a whopping 3 stone to loose, and want to do it via the Slimming World method.

Do people post their starting weights?

Bit of background about me... I'm not working at the moment, so it's better for my wallet (the only thing that's looking slimline in my life at present!) if I can achieve a weight loss via the MSE forum.

Since becoming unemployed, I have been eating a lot of carbs (mainly cos they're cheaper) and my weight has rocketed!!! Hence I am on the lookout for cheap 'red' day meal ideas. For those of you who don't follow Slimming World, this means I am focusing on high protein, low carb meals.

Looking forward to hearing more about everyone else,
    Queen Bee

PS - think I may amend my signature to keep my motivation up!
  • HI all - haven;t had chance to catch up with you all. Posting a 1lb loss please. THanks

  • 1.1lbs... loss

this could have been better for my first week but at least its a loss.i found it hard to get into the swing of it after 2 days as the willpower got weaker.

going to keep trying though, but going on a sun 3 day break this weekend so i am going to try.

  • Last week 77.8 kg

    This week 77.4 kg

    Loss of 0.4 kg

I think this amounts to nearly a pound. As I'm aiming to lose half a pound a week, that's quite OK.

I went to aqua-aerobics again yesterday. I had intended to go on Monday and then to start a 6-week adult beginners' swimming class yesterday, but the car had its MOT and needed a lot more work done to it, so we didn't get it back until lunch-time, too late for me to go to swimming class. I intend to start next week, will have missed one session out of the 6 but it couldn't be helped. Aqua-aerobics is good.

Really annoyed. For the first time since starting the diet I have a gain of 1lb What annoys me is I've had a net calorie intake of 1346 over the week, so where have I gone wrong?!

    Hi Dinah

Now, no laughing, but you probably haven't eaten enough. Missy is our famous example of eating more in order to lose weight. If you don't eat enough your body goes into 'starvation' mode and starts to hoard.

If you up your calories to approx 1500/1700 net you should find your weight loss starts again.

  • Could you please put me down for 0.4lb loss, which puts me 0.6lb under my 'maintaining' weight. 1690 net calories.

  • Hezza, hope it works out okay for your MIL. She sounds lovely. Do you think she needs someone to talk to? If her boys aren't talking perhaps she could do with a friend like you?
