mazza - a very wise choice. Portugal is nice, but not THAT nice! I have a male friend I've known since I was a little girl (really little), who's the big bro of a school mate. When I split up with my ex he was a good friend to me, and as he'd not long split from his long-term partner we commiserated on many things, but then one day he started making offers of a rather intimate nature, and it was obvious that he'd got other ideas. I found that rather shocking at the time, but managed to maintain a friends only stance, and just joked the comments away, by way of saying it'd be like incest with a brother, etc. You just never know, do you?
Victory - most parents will at one time or another have experienced a child in full on meltdown mode. My 2nd eldest once lay prone on a shopping mall marble floor, headbutting it repeatedly, and hard enough to make a thudding noise. I just walked away, telling him I wasn't sticking around to see him being silly. I know other shoppers must have been horrified by either his behaviour, or me walking away, but I did, and as he realised I wasn't walking back, he promptly got up and ran after me in a panic that I'd abandon him. What I have always insisted on though, is that they have to apologise for their bad behaviour, just as adults do. They may well be embarrassed about it after the event, but that's part of it. We can all be badly behaved at times, but becoming a responsible adult means being able to acknowlege it, and apologise for it. Just my opinion of course.
kpc - I've been on a carb fest to since the weekend. Not sure why, but that's how it's been. I've cycled 3 miles today, and am going to get on with doing some decorating to try to counter-act that behaviour.
Making the most of the lovely weather this week. It's so warm here today it's like early July again. One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing
Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home0 -
And your opinion is super valid:D I am very strict, not in the old fashioned disciplinary way but it has to be as I say, do as I say basically not as you think, please and thank you's at all times and yes rightly so an apology, his behaviour was the worst I have ever seen in my life of raising two boys one nearly 16 never experienced anything like it, ever, never would want to again:rolleyes: he will be talked at until he realises the error of his ways;)0

Dinah I'm another one who suffers badly with temporary weight gain pre-TOTM and during the first few days. Same as Victory, it's been known to be up to 5lb  Then it simply disappears (which is something that unfortunately NEVER happens with real weight gain!)0

Hi - my first time on this thread and I'm looking for some advice!!
I've just bought the Zoe Harcombe book "Stop Counting Calories and Start Losing Weight" + the recipe book; it all sounds very sensible, I've googled reviews of it and most people seem to do well and find it relatively easy to follow.
Have any of the MSE dieting community tried it? If so - what results? I'm planning to start the 5 day kick start on Thursday (day after tomorrow!) so that if I feel ill at least it will be over the weekend. Any info or views from you lovely people will be welcome!!£2 Savers Club 2016 #21 £14/£250

:hello:Hi Shopaholic! I'm sure people didn't mean to ignore you, someone would've come along soon and welcomed you properly as it's a very friendly bunch on here! So have a Hello and welcome to the group from Kathmandu - we're a far flung lot too :rotfl:
You say that you find it hard to stick to, what is it that you find difficult? If you enjoy exercise maybe you could focus on upping that first? Or would joining a group help you? Some people here belong to various WL groups, others just come on here and that really helps with their motivation.
Tell us a little more about what your goal is and what has/hasn't worked for you in the past and I'm sure we can help you.The 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

morning all! reporting a 0.6kg loss this week which i'm pleased with. And got rid of a load of stock last night so slowly reclaiming my life. Now just need to help OH get his head round the fact that despite working hisrocks off this year, the cancellations have effectively put him back at zero and my work here is done . . .0

No idea about the Harcombe diet but I think we all knowthat what ever you do it comes down to eat less and move more. If only knowing it was the same as doing it. :rolleyes:0
