still haven't fully caught up - doubt i'll manage it this week! still feeling a bit under the weather but i'm better than i was yesterday. I am getting my hair cut at 11am so I should go and have breakfast and shower and get down there. Think I might have quite a lot cut off!

flying wise we've caught up with the washing, DH put up the new bookcase and hoovered right through. He also cleaned out the fridge. We've got an M&S £10 deal for tonight so that's nice and easy ;)

I'm going to do another HHC at 10.30 if anyone wants to join me?

Just done all my online tasks for the day.

Julie - hugs for you both. Would putting his hand in warm water first help? Did you have his arm hanging down? I really hope you have some success another day and that he does not find it too traumatic.

DH and the boys at cricket. Cooking gammon and lemon cake later at DH request. This year I managed to buy the father's day cards without being sad at not buying one for my Dad.

AnW'sMum - thinking of you A and W especially today xxxx

Off to do the bathroom and then have my shower.

It's not Toots - we've tried it for the first time today and it was absolutely horrendous and I've had to abandon it until next weekend. I pricked his finger twice and still couldn't get enough blood out to fill the circle on the paper. DS and DD were both absolutely distraught. We'll try again next weekend but I now need a new card and some more needles as I have to do 5 in one day - if I end up doing 2 pricks for each time I'm going to need loads but even when he was sobbing I still couldn't get enough blood to come out of his finger.

JJ - don't worry, you'll get there in the end. There are lots of different testing meters, some need a much smaller sample, some have finer lancers to puncture the skin - so maybe ask to try a different meter? There is also one which doesn't lance the skin but pulls/sucks it up into the machine - can't remember the name so will ask my friend who tested it to get me the details. Either way ask for more help and reassurance, so that both of you are more comfortable with doing it. My friend has been through so many meters until she found the "one" for her and we regularly get/try the newer ones as they come out to see if they are better for her (has problems with her hands and anything too fiddly IYKWIM).

Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.... life is a WIP.

    Morning

Havent been in here for a couple of days as been between busy and chilling - application for job went in on time but I had rushed it so am not expecting to hear anything. Doesnt help when you dont actually have any useful qualifications. If I do hear anything I might need to have a chat with you Dusty please as it was for an examinations officer in the school.

So this morning I got up early to "help" DD cook a fried brekkie for Daddy. Have cleared the kitchen and washed up after, have also cooked a honey roast Gammon ham for sandwiches and currently have a chicken roasting for lunches too. The leg of Lamb OH will have to do as I need to be at work this afternoon for 1.15 - will I make it in time or not! Especially when I havent even washed my work trousers and am still sat here unshowered and in my dressing gown.

OH is currently trying on new work uniform that he collected yesterday as he goes back on Thursday :T:T:T.

Havent caught up on the thread yet but did see juejim was having trouble with DS blood tests. When we used to do them in the ambo, we used to hang the arm down for a bit to encourage blood flow and then squeeze the finger at the sides to lessen the effect of the !!!!! itself which we did on the side of the finger pad rather than the centre. Its not so painful to things afterwards.

Right sorry must dash as need caffeine and to get on.
Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!
  • 00020324.gif flyfriends hope you are all well and happy.

Appart from a quick s/s and tidy round I have decided I'm not doing anything today except some study (yes Toots I'm a good girl:D)

Thanks for this! I've used Stardrops in the past but just wasn't impressed with it. I don't have any white vinegar at the moment, perhaps it is the vinegar that makes the difference?
I'm going to give SD's another go today diluted but a little stronger and see how that goes! Can't understand how everyone else raves about it but it didn't do the job for me!:o

Ooooooooooo you'll go to the bad fire saying stuff like that Mrs Beatson :rotfl::rotfl:
Seriously though if you really don't like it for cleaning use it to wash your dishes.
My mammy only bought stardrops and did all the jobs in the house with it, I'm the same but I buy bleach too. Am I the only one that remembers them awful glass bottles it used to come in???????? Used to hate carring them on the bus home.

  • I was going to tackle the airing cupboard today but it's in DS1's room. He has gone to bed as he was at a cub sleepover last night and he says that they didn't get to sleep till 5am

Maybe he'll be so tired that I can work around him.

One load of washing out on the line but it's overcast and no wind. It was sunny when I got up this morning.

I've got roast dinner in, made a sponge and a rhubarb crumble. Washed up and put everything away. Emptied the indoor bins. Polished the living room and computer desk and vacuumed right through downstairs.

Off to "jam" the sponge now.
