Absolutely the best thing to get rid of ants is to mix a food source with borax or boric acid. They take it back to their nest and it kills all of them. I use a liquid sugar mix for sugar feeders and tuna mix for protein feeders. Make sure you put this where children and pets can't get to it.

My MIL is plagued with them, even in Winter. She is an avid tidier, so it's not as if they are attracted by crumbs etc. They come from internal walls/ floorboards etc.
She has had all the sprays, I even sent for something from Asia as it was meant to the ultimate deterrant.
She got a professional "ant killer" man to put poison down. Needless to say they reappeared a few weeks later.

    Best of luck getting rid.

I had this problem a couple of years ago. I washed EVERYTHING in my kitchen with Mr Muscle, and kept anything that could possibly be of interest to ants in my fridge - like jam, golden syrup etc. Then I had a spray bottle filled with tea tree oil and water which I sprayed on the ground outside my back door several times a day for a couple of weeks - it is pretty strong smelling stuff, but not unpleasant. I did get rid of the ants, so something must have worked!

If you have to put posion down mix it with icing sugar they love it and will take it back to the nest.

My mother is plauged by then during the summer. It is alleged if you draw a chalk line they will not cross.

Yeah for about half an hour or so and then they did :rotfl:

All the best for getting rid of them.

Over the last 8 or 9 years we've had terrible problems with ants in the kitchen, and I've tried just about every known product to try and shift them without success.

Last year I tried something new. One evening before I went to bed there were about 20 ants scuttling around on the work surfaces, so I put down a couple of these:

    (which I got from Superdrug).

Next morning there were about 50 dead ants lying about the place - and I only saw 1 or 2 more in the entire year. I've already got another stock in for this year!

The odd thing is it's supposed to be the sort of stuff that they take back to the nest to kill the queen, and I think it's supposed to take a week or so to work - so I've never figured out how it did the job overnight.
