Sexual discrimination/equal pay issue
Comments

er so ur case for the difference in pay is not having a qualification but directly preventing the person obtaining the qualification? despite paying for other male colleagues to do it previously and as recently as last mnth paying for a masters degree for another colleague to better themselves. Im no expert but to me that reason doesnt look too good when presented in front of a tribunal
Well then your stupid
Companies dont have to pay to train their staff etc. When they do they can choose whatever they want as long as it doesnt discriminate based on the key groups.
As they likely knew fine your wife was being made redundant this may well have contributed and would be a reasonable decision. Likewise cost, wifes previous training, wifes likiehood to suceed, required or not
Out of interest could you confirm how many times your wife had raised her salary before this happened and the responses on each occasion.
How much will your wife be able to achieve elsewhere with the same personal profile she has now and how different is this to her current salary.
Whilst your wife hasnt been treated great she hasnt done herself any favours and nothing indicates the treatment was sexually motivated.0 -

one thing i am not is stupid
in reply to ur queries:
she raised her salary query when she found out last year and then followed it up for weeks tryin to get a response from the director - there was no official response from him (in fact no written response at all to her original email). she has raised it again when her appraisal date came and went (and when she knew she wud be selected for redundancy)
she gets 27% less than her comparator. she wud be well below the market rate for an H&S advisor0 -

Hedger you are very good at manipulating your answers
However from what you are saying she only brought up her salary once. And having been told there was no budget didnt get one. In any other year she might have but she didnt raise it. The question to be asked if she is so below market value why didnt she raise it.
As for being below the market value for a H&S Advisor. That isnt what I asked. What I asked is what would your wife get paid based on having the same skills and expeerience elsewere.
As far as I can tell the NEBOSH Diploma seems to mean a lot - and your wife obviously knows this - and will justify the massive difference in salary
As for the training. A 5k course with significant staff time being lost - especially at time of redundnacy - being refused seems fair
You really dont have any evidence of anything discriminatory.
Tell me how its sexual discrimination? Her being female and him being male isnt enough.0 -

I wouldnt of thought £26kish is below market value.
Without the diploma these jobs tend to pay between 24-28k with a premium for the south.
By the way was "the man" already studying for the diploma when he was employed? Not Again0 -

You are looking to sue & to sue & win.
Let me tell you something. Across over 90% (generalisation but I know its the case so +/- 5% would give you the figure) of the market place professional qualifications pay.
Thats a free piece of information & no matter what you say will change it.1984ReturnsForReal wrote: »

Calm down. Commas are like little pauses for breath. There's no need to be afraid of them.
And bullied? With a name like Manly? They wouldn't dare.0
