Sexual discrimination/equal pay issue

Fair enough.
Good luck. I mean that genuinely.
I don't think you have a case based on sexual discrimination, but the law is a strange thing and is often applied in strange ways, and more often than not arbitration will find a solution without reverting to the law. However, as I've already said, I'm coming round to the view that the company will likely cough up something to shut you guys up.
I'm almost tempted to do that myself . . . ;-)
Tenacious little b****r, arent you?
I am indeed . I am no expert on law but we both feel what has happened, when all put in the mix, is wrong. lets get all the facts, minutes, responses and present them to the legal people and take their lead. then we'll see how things pan out0 -

im not 100% on that (the wife knows). think it could have been done either over a period of time 1 full day a week or 1 full week per month (obviously the quicker way). costs approx £2000-25000 -

And the other training authorised cost a third and probably nowhere near the time sacrifice. add to that making someone redundant then allowing others to give up a day a week is going to make enemies.0 -

I would reckon its about £3k (+ accomodation & travel) all in & about 18 days off work.
The downturn in construction began in late 2007.
The full UK recession started in the 2nd Quarter of 2008.
Your wife (taken from your comments) requested funding for the above in January 2009.
At what point do you think the company knew tough times where coming?
What course did the "man" get for £800? & what time out did it take? & when was it organised? (I would put money on it being a 1 or 2 day course, probably in something like budget/project management because that would be money well spent). Not Again0 -

you can do a masters sitting at home in the evening & you dont know & have no business to know what is in his contract & the terms of his employment, what was agreed at interview or anything else for that matter. After all he is the H&S Manager.
It has no meaning to your claim. At best it will be ignored, at worst it will be used against you.Not Again0 -
he's right, you know, hedger.
you might not like it, but it's true.0 -

You might be a little off the mark there. Around 12 months would be a fairer estimate and the candidate has up to 5 years to complete the units.
Costs tend to run from £4,700 + vat to £7,000+ vat
for all the 4 units.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0
