I did everything instructed, and was running Malwarebytes, when it did exactly the same as the other night and crashed after about an hour and a half . To my knowledge it hadn't found anything by then, so goodness knows why it keeps crashing.
Think I'll run the quick scan, as it can't seem to cope with the full one .

If it's a question, I'm running the quick scan now. Just hope it makes it to the end this time.

run a KASPERSKY ONLINE SCAN (click to scan 'MY COMPUTER')...its a new link
http://www.kaspersky.com/kos/eng/partner/default/pages/default/check.html?n=1245225406761
Please post the complete log it creates (This only SCANS it DOESNT delete anything, so we'd need to see anything it finds)
The scan will likely take anywhere from 5 to 12 hours to complete!
Might also be an idea to turn off your antivirus as you scan (Possibly why malwarebytes keeps crashing):idea:0 -
Really stupid question - is it safe to disable my Norton for up to 12 hours? I guess it must be or you wouldn't tell me to do it!
Bit of a problem now, only just logged in and obviously if it did take 12 hours it would be running until the small hours. I'm going away tomorrow so won't get back to this until end of the month. I'll be online, but on my other computer.
It is actually running a lot better today - perhaps whatever it was suffering from has been dealt with by one of the processes I have run?
Can I say a huge thank you for all the help, and that I'll probably not run the Kaspersky now, but upon my return I'll see how things are and do it then if need be.
As you can see from my new signature, I am eternally grateful for the wonderful help on this board. It's brilliant to know I'm not on my own with these problems (until I manage to disable the Internet that is!).I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Well its your call but clearly if it keeps resetting on the malwarebytes scan then something isnt right
I think you missunderstand just HOW badly infected you got your computer
Its much safer to switch off norton and let kaspersky scan the computer than to just carry as as you are with an almost certain knowledge that the computer IS still infected and norton is none the wiser
ps ~ cheers for the sig:idea:0 -

Hi again! Writing this from my Asus EEE in (not very) sunny Southport. Won't be back on the other contraption until about 29th June, but I promise I will disable Norton and see if that lets me run Kaspersky, the first chance I get when I will be around for the requisite possible 12 hours.
So you can finish your plastering now, and turn your techie skills to helping out the other grateful customers on this great board! Have a lovely weekend.
