Thanks - just typed those in and it seemed to manage to send a test email I had done that was trapped in my outbox, but as regards incoming mail I got another failed message...
The host 'POP3.freeserve.co.uk' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Account: 'POP3', Server: 'POP3.freeserve.co.uk', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11004, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D
I can't see any difference between what it can't find and what it seems to be saying should be entered.
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Should I have it set as Local Area Network (it is currently), or change it to Broadband or Freeserve Broadband? Or is that a "how long is a piece of string" question?

p.s. should have it^^^^ set to "any available"
the highlighted bit may be a clue, in the account properties, do you have the "log on via secure server" ticked ?? if yes, you may well need to uncheck it......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
My freeserve account requires activating every three months or so, have no idea why but it happens to other people so its not just me, go to http://www.orange.co.uk/time/ret_rest_account.htm?linkfrom=hp4&link=box_right_pos_4_1_link_4&article#suspended
and select retrieve account.0 -
