However, if you want rural peace, beautiful scenery, picturesque country and fishing villages, lovely coastline, great restaurants and relatively cheap housing, you are spoiled for choice with NE Fife, the Howe, the East Neuk and the St Andrews area. For city/big town attractions, we are 20 minutes drive from Dundee and Perth, 35 minutes from Edinburgh and an hour from Glasgow. We like it so much that I choose live here and commute 110 miles to and from work every day.
Hi Fifer true that we did make a mistake coming this far and yes i do agree the scenery is lovely but the amenaties on offer in Kirkcaldy is shocking i really feel for the folk here who mostly live in dark dank houses and really have no future in my opinion . Yes we are looking at getting out to Dundee looking foward to that ....0 -
Sounds like Dundee would be a better option for you. I'm not a massive fan of Kirkcaldy, I have to admit. We tend to head for Perth, Dundee or Edinburgh for any shopping other than supermarkets. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

            Hello,
just thought i'd join in here. I grew up in Kirkcaldy and moved to Glasgow several years ago - there is just so much more to do here.
But.....I find that I get the BEST bargains in Fife. Glenrothes and Kirkcaldy shopping centres always seem to have really good offers on clothes. Here in Glasgow they only reduce clothes so much, as they know they can shift them. Whereas when I visit Fife I always get great cheap clothes for under £7.
I too can recommend the Armristar Indian restaurant, it's fantastic. Great value buffet lunches there....ah I miss them!
Not sure if anyone remembers the River Island Clearance shop that used to be on the high street - it was amazing....my best friend and I still mourn the day that closed down....
Sorry I can't suggest any other activities, they have all been mentioned. The Path Tavern in Kirkcaldy used to (and i think it still has) a thriving music scene, lots of bands play there.

The Jasmin in Glenrot is a brilliant Indian restaurant which also offers a buffet meal as a carryout and a sit in option. Mmmmm, haven't found a better Indian restaurant in Edinburgh even. Glasgow: now there's another thing: definitely the home of fantastic curries in Scotland.
Dundee's the wrong diretion: I was born there and left at 2 weeks old: look at closer to Edinburgh or Glasgow. ;-)0 -

The Jasmine used to be our fave Indian restaurant too but we've since discovered Mo's Jahangir which is fab :j My DH loves Indian but it goes straight through him (sorry!) literally in half an hour but he's not been affected by food from Mo's. They do a great buffet too and kids under 12 eat free on Sundays. It's in the building that used to be Kanes, down near Stenton pond. It looks like a pub when you walk in as the restaurant is on the other side of the building. Highly recommeneded!I have the mind of a criminal genius. I keep it in the freezer next to Mother....0 -
Thanks for this Noozan. I didn't even know there was such a restaurant. Do they provide a home delivery service and how are their prices? Don't suppose they have a web site I could check out, for the menu, do they?
Must check it out.0 -
I'm not a big fan of the Jasmine. I much prefer the new place (can't remember the name) that's opened up in Jahangir's old premises in Leslie, or Mo's Jahangir (a close second). Both are excellent. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

Not sure if they have a delivery service; we always eat in. Prices are very reasonable; 3 course lunch £4.95. Buffet £9.95 for adults, £5.50 for under 12's. Under 12's free on Sundays (2 children per couple) Veggie dishes are £5.50, meat dishes between £5.95 and £6.50, specialist dishes around £8 to £9. No website listed but you can phone them (am I allowed to put in a phone number?
) on 01592 770400. The guy that owns the place is very friendly answers all my probing questions about what's in each dish, how they make it, how long it's cooked for etc
and always gives me some gulab juman dough to take away so I can make it at home! I have the mind of a criminal genius. I keep it in the freezer next to Mother....0
