The road out to the west. ;o) Or even Edinburgh.
Seriously now. I presume we're talking attractions other than the beach. Do you have your own transport?
There is a fantastic farm for children near Livingston: not too far away.
Craigencalt Ecology Centre at Kinghorn Loch is very interesting particularly the earthship. It is also just a nice "away from it all without being unreachable" place of interest and then there's the Vane Farm Nature Reserve on Loch leven's south shore.
You didn't mention what interests were to be met. Determining exactly what you and teh kiddies would enjoy might stimulate more response.0 -

your visiting kirkcaldy? when? its 10 minutes from me. nothing much in kirkcaldy but make sure you take the coastal route to kinghorn, burntisland and aberdour.
some nice views - especially in kinghorn and aberdour. there is a quiet swimming pool at pettycur bay caravan park in kinghorn - it has a sauna, small gym etc too. also pool tables/snooker etc.
if you find yourself in dunfermline (15 mins away) have a walk down the glen (at the bottom of the high street) ask any local. its a massive glen with nice walks. head out to the outskirts of dunfermline to dulloch park - a leisure complex which hosts the odeon cinema. bowling alley and the usual places to eat. pm me if u have any questions.0 -
The Museum and Art Gallery at the library is pretty good. It's the only municipal gallery in the UK with original Vettriano's and also has a very good collection of Scottish Colourists. The museum has a good collection of original Wemyssware.
Wemyss Caves (prehistoric cave paintings), Ravenscraig Castle, Links Market.
Further out, there's Leven beach, Balbirnie Park and Stone Circle, Letham Glen, Falkland Palace, the East Neuk villages, Scotland's Secret Bunker. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

Glenrothes (at the Fife Institute) is pretty good, if the council don't shut it down before he gets older. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

Leven Swimming Pool is quite good too. Perth pool beats them all hands down though.0

Burntisland and Leven pools are both leisure pools geared towards kids, they have stuff like the waves, rapids and shutes. Glenrothes and Kirkcaldy are plain swimming pools.
If you're traveling by bus, Leven is the easiest to get to- as it is just the other side of the road right opposite the bus station.
In the summer there is beveridge park, they open the boating pool and golf (not sure if its pitch and putt or crazy golf). The biggest problem with Beveridge park is the amount of ignorant dog walkers who turn it into !!!!!! city!!!!!0 -
Visited Kirkcaldy years ago when the GPT factory was trying to make computers for Alan Sugar.
Did they ever open the lino museum? That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
No, but they've started making Lino again. Mmmm, smell that linseed oil ...There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
