CC Applications, Credit Checks and Occupations....??

Let's just say I had to bend the truth regarding my income/occupation to obtain recent credit

I now wish to apply for a CC but using my genuine income/occupation details. Will the credit check reveal what I had put for occupation/income on previous applications for credit?

Yes, N Hunter picks up abnormalities but should be ok if was done after 2wks of last application - just ensure from now in you use the new details or the flag will alert fraud. Too many material falsehoods affect the score.

Have you tried tesco, they don;t assess employer and income is irrelevant as well, so no need to lie LOL

    see here for proof: http://www.tescofinance.com/personal/finance/finance/creditcards/elh/what-doesnt-count-towards-a-credit-score.html

What doesn't count towards a credit score?

Scoring models do not take into account:
    • age
    • race
    • sex
    • job or length of employment at your job
    • income
    • education
    • marital status
    • whether you've been turned down for credit
    • length of time at your current address
    • whether you own a home or rent
    • information not contained in your credit report

Mortgage application completed on Friday 5th June, when would they have done their final check? I guess I should wait till 19th June till I apply?

I need a 0% balance transfer card, Tesco only do a 6mth 0% deal. I was thinking of Virgin with it's 18mth deal?

It would also be pointless me paying the 2% fee with Tesco then paying a further 3% fee in 6mths time if Virgin still had the deal going

    Thoughts

Also now that I have bought a house, should I update my addresses with all account providers or leave them at my parents. Wont a change of address mean credit checks?

I want to get my 0% CC then build up credit at the new address

If you have history at parents and show on electoral roll then apply for 0% there and after a month then move. This will generate link to parents address for E/R data (i.e. your whereabouts) and start new credit record at new address.

Change of addy does not generate a credit check!

Be careful, when you apply it will have mortgage payments and mortgage address on your credit file so if you apply with parents address it will catch you out and you may get cifas/fraud data registered as it will show you living with parents to the lender but when they search a credit agency, it'll show you as a homeowner - see what I mean? Classic fraud symptoms.

Personally i'd scrap the above idea and change address now.

You need to think carefully about what you're doing.

If you were 'bending' the truth about your occupation and now using an old address, a pattern seems to be emerging of misrepresenting the risk.

You are walking the line of committing fraud in order to obtain credit. As mentioned above, N Hunter could pick this up.

Yea, thats what I just realised after typing last post! The CRA's will deffo has the mortgage on there so i'd come clean now and just say I completed the form quickly and put parents address out of habit - sorry, can I cancel and do in my own address or summat like that!

N Hunter will pick it up, so will cifas alerts (cat 4 - application fraud facility refused)

I got one with Sygma, HSBC and Lloyds - fighting Lloyds now but I tell you what, they are as bad as having a default!

Nope, could also be BTL but personally you'd have to put homeowner on your application. Thats for sure, may even look better if you imply BTL - in fact, for CC applications this doesn't matter too much - but quit fibbing or it will damage you for at least a year! Remember CC's now use rate for risk so you may get high rates in time if they notice the fibs ;)

Yes but will they be able to know what I put for my occupation on previous credit application?

N Hunter record this data as with length of time with emplyer, declared salary etc.... its designed to catch out the obvious ' I earn £14k' - rejection then applies next week to another lender saying 'I earn £49k' - that would be an obvious lie, not a promotion.

So Hunter would flag and detect this behaviour. Make sense? Have a look at N Hunter: http://www.nhunter.co.uk/

so what if I've never been declined credit?

so it will only take into account salary and length of employment?

do you know what companies belong to nhunter?
