Sygma: The Real Story

So precisely how many people have been CIFAS'd now by Sygma? I'm sure I have read about at least two different people on here. I'm wondering if people considering applying for this card should be warned to avoid it? Once you get a CIFAS I believe that your credit history is totally destroyed adn you will never be approved for any credit products again.

I was CIFASd (cat 4 - application fraud facility refused).

Having a CIFAS flag does not prevent you from getting credit. In fact since they did this I have had credit limit increases and a new credit account opened. It just means that you will no longer be instantly accepted and the application will be looked at manually.
  • Hi, does Category 4 mean that you are accused of the fraud? If the CIFAS says that you lied on an application I can't imagine another lender is going to open you an account?

i think alot of people are getting confused by the sygma saga, they have done alot of credit checks by creation financial services(fraud) as a follow up enquiry, these are not seen by other lenders thay are just generic checks for id ect and a good thing. i think its because it has the words fraud in it that it panicked people, i only know one other poster who has had a full cifas registered by sygma, and im sure i read that the poster had been the victim of identity theft before. but not 100% sure.

When I applied for the Flybe card there were two checks done (one recorded and the other not) and I was given a CIFAS Cat4 flag.

It was me who had the cat 4 as well... I have had credit since then as well. I read it was supposed to wreck anyone at that address' chance of getting credit but my OH got a new bank a/c and credit card no problem after it was placed.
Are they just placing these at random then???
